Thank you for a great video! Do you cone agateware?
@KaransPotsAndGlass6 жыл бұрын
I bisque fire it like any clay- and then glaze and fire to the appropriate cone for the claybody. This is cone 5/6 clay I use!

KaransPotsAndGlass Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I meant can you cone the agateware Clay up as part of the centering process or does that cause the colors to integrate too much?
@KaransPotsAndGlass6 жыл бұрын
Ah! Now I understand!!! Sorry! That is an excellent question! I don’t think I would cone very much, because it does tend to do a mixing process. If you can avoid it I would attempt to avoid it! :)

I have to tell you also, this is goofy- but for some reason, I assumed that there was a language barrier talking about firing... I don't know why I didn't think of actual coning! (I get lots of questions with translation issues, where people don't know the term firing and such!) ;)

Are you left hand dominate in your centering?
@KaransPotsAndGlass5 жыл бұрын
Hi Carissa- here’s a video specifically on centering if this helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWKke4mqpLKWesU The left hand is truly the primary centering force. With the left elbow firmly locked to your leg or something else stationary, you push in hard with the left to do the majority of the centering, while the right concentrates on the top. And, I am right-handed with a counter clockwise wheel rotation.

Lol- thank you! I can't tell you how often I get comments like "what is that annoying noise- make it stop"... stuff like that, so I just thought I'd put it out there to placate the negativity before it starts! Lol! ;)

don't use a sponge while pulling, it puts to much water into the clay

Hi Race- I have been throwing for over 30 years, and it works for me! I control the amount of water just fine! :)
