I wish karate combats rules were a bit less strict. Knees like the ones Bruno threw should be fine imo. Also I think kicks above the knee should be allowed. Other than that I love all the fights and the arenas!

I agree with you it's weird. I guess they are trying to keep it traditional karate a bit with the no full clinch. kind of like kyokushin without strong rules. they want calf kicks instead of thigh kicks to differentiate from thai and kickboxing. Initially maybe they thought that karate guys would do more head kicks and spinning techniques. Having full clinch would completly change the fight. That makes sense but at least allow low kicks.

@@victortorres7851 I’ve always thought the leg kick rules were strange. I can see what they were going for with the whole traditional karate aspect, and I also don’t want karate combat to look like Muay Thai but they have such restrictive rules that the refs and judges have hard times enforcing them sometimes. A good example is single and double leg takedowns are illegal, but in the Varga vs Skrivers fight Skrivers won exclusively with double legs. And there are a few other fights like that as well. Also too i don’t know the full history of karate but I’m sure some karate practitioners In the past kicked people anywhere on the leg.

@@averymemorablename329 well the calf kick rule is silly. yes other karate styles kick all over the leg in fact almost all do. The double leg is taught in Karate but not the wrestler style. Maybe they wanted an mma aspect. But the takedowns probably should be more shotokan style sweeps and dumps. You are right the random rule set is awkward and restrictive. I'm still going to watch it though😅

They have to preserve the fighters. This is already dangerous, with less rules, the fighters will reach 40 years old like a disable.
