You should take this video down. It's very biased. You can't disparage the taunting of Saenchai's opponents while ignoring the fact that Saenchai is famous for doing the same thing. In fact, his opponents are only taunting in retaliation for Saenchai's taunts. So his taunts aren't as playful as you may believe.

I'm a 40 year old ex-Muay Thai practitioner, and I'm certain I've brought that up in this comment section before, but let me say that I love Lawrence's channel and his fight breakdowns. There's a *_lot_* of guys on KZbin who do this - not a lot of them know what they're talking about even though they might claim, but this dude Lawrence provides some of the best I've come across, and I'm hella far from an expert. I took classes for 2 and a half years, so don't listen to me and my bullshit, I've just been in some fights. This dude gives you an education.

The problem with respect in fighting is it’s just as dangerous as being too cocky. Someone who has too much respect will often hold punches or not take advantage of situations needed to win. Sometimes too much respect turns into fear.

I’m sorry Lawrence, but to me Namsaknoi is the real GOAT. Defeated Saenchai twice and has a 93% win record (Saenchai’s is around 86% for comparison). That is literally unheard of. I vote Namsaknoi for GOAT.
@Animefightforum Жыл бұрын
If you’re looking at win rates.. somrak is higher at 297-13. Somrak was something else. The fight of namsaknoi vs saenchai iirc was catchweight. Namsaknoi was similar to Buakaw size and weight. Namsaknoi was definitely a great though. But no, there are many amazing fighters with win rates of that level but Somrak is possibly the highest. Thing with Saenchai is he often fought bigger thai’s. He even fought 2v1 in 2009 against 2 lumpini champions and won. (1 fighter for 3 rounds, the other for 2). But namsaknoi and saenchai are definitely not the goats. The real goats are from the golden age, where real, REAL monsters reigned.

@@Animefightforum Namsaknoi basically ended his career early, because he walked out from the Por Pramuk gym who didn't give him the money he had earned. But him and Saenchai definitely trained in the golden era, although when they went to the big stadiums, the golden era was pretty much over. But lot of the fighters were still there.

Saenchai is like a teacher who comes up to introduce his students on stage. His banter on stage is because he can introduce his disciples on stage. If you do, you're saying you're equally talented enough to have time to joke around on stage. And Saenchai will prove whether you're good enough to do it on the real stage or not. If you fought with Saenchai It is up to you to choose whether to acquire additional technical knowledge as a junior or student would. Or fight to the best of your ability as an opponent who believes himself to be as strong as Saenchai. Both of which are not wrong. From what I've seen, I believe Saenchai's opponents respect him. It's just how he chooses the roles he chooses on stage.
