I am a retired cop I observed the vedio with karate Georgie, what I had seen Georgie commit no offence, Georgie work with the parish council with the Municipal Corporation, most likely a supervisor, Georgie observed clothes for sale along the street in public space which is a breach under the town and comunity act and he was doing the appropriate thing he explained that to the police, he told the vendor to remove them he wasn't behaving hard with the vendor, he could seize the goods but he didn't choose that route. As a retired member of the JCF l work with Georgie in police area 1 during the 80s and 90s I known him as a brilliant person, hard working, highly respected always properly attired. These police now a days not as efficient and effective like first time police, they lack of knowlege about citizens rights and run from public complaint, that why the crime stay this way in the country, telling Georgie about detain nothing name detain you will charge for assaulting member of the public, you arrested and charged accused or reasonable suspicion to take them to the police station and states the facts in the station diary.

Montego Bay (and Jamaica on a whole) has a deployment of young corporals that have no sense of duty or respect... I had such an incident where the young man stopped me right after the fountain... said I ran the light (in MoBay traffic can happen everywhere) he asked for the documents which I produced and he typed into a phone and said I had NO INSURANCE. I explained that I pay online and just didn't have the cover note and I indeed do have insurance and maybe and error we went back and forth and a second corporal (with gov rifle) said "gih him dih ticket an mek wi move" and he complied with a stoplight violation $10k and also a $20k for no insurance. I called my insurance company quite mad and they dispelled that I had in fact up to date insurance. I called the ticket number and was advised that I am to go to court and prove that. What a waste of my time!!!! Now tell me why use the law in a manner which is left to evidence presented by the police which has no truth to it?

I was a cop in Jamaica and I don’t remember being disrespectful an arrestable offense in Jamaica. I Know it is illegal for any person to use any profane, indecent or obscene language in public and that under section 9C of the Towns and Communities Act can be arrested but I never heard of any Police arresting anyone in my time as cop in Jamaica for being just disrespectful. This guy could have told the cop to stop bother him and go look for real criminals which they always seem to say whenever you approach them for committing a crime or traffic violation which I am saying he did but telling a cop that might be disrespectful but certainly not an arrestable offense. Again I don’t know the full story of what really transpired between this former cop and the present cops but there is 3 sides to this story. His side, the cops and the truth.
