With the hard work of all the kalari ancestors and the generations later them , after almost losing its significance, kalaripayattu has come back to the place where it deserves to be. And the best affirmation to this is the growing curiosity amongst the people of all interests from around the world.
Few days back, @Sensei Seth, a renowned Karate Master and my good friend now, contacted me regarding his curiosity towards this ancient most art and I immediately agreed to teach and interact with him regarding both our arts. A great experience it was!

in southern style its more about fighting and in northern style it's more about meyypayattu and weapons training ,also there are many flexibility and body conditioning exercises, and there is hand to hand combat techniques . in southern style also they practice weapons. nowadays most of the gurukuls know both styles in Kerala.

Northern kerala Kalaripayatyu is an aggressive form using sharp weapons commonly known as "pulliangam "means "tiger fight" Southern kerala Kalaripayatyu is defensive form using barehands and using pressure points/marma points Mainly Without weapons

Absolutely, the weapons used in the kalari are not founded in day to day life.But there is a hand to hand combat style of fighting that is why kalari is good for self defense

i do agree with you, kungfu was taught to the shoalins by Bodhidharma who was a Kalari master in south India and he traveled to china..... time passed also our knowledge in kalarippayattu, the Chinese held their knowledge very well and gave it to the future generation..like Bodhidharma, there were many other masters in India. so I think you got the idea about which is better
