@@CabralNick Read history and meaning of word: MMA. There were mma fights in 60s in Japan and people could perform their style against other styles. Also there were people fought without rules and everything was allowed ...mma doesn't mean mixed different techniques only...it also means a fight where everything can be used or DIFFERENT STYLES COMPETITION. And I didn't argue that in Brazil of 20s were fights of mma or Vale tu do ( if believe to the Internet sources). BUT IN THE ANCIENT GREECE MMA COMBAT SYSTEM AND FIGHTS CALLED PANKRATION EXISTED BEFORE VALE TU DO AND EVIDENCES OF IT FOUND BY ARCHAELOGISTS.

@@tamerlankuzgov2845 we all know about pankration but there were no mma fights in japan before shootout started in 1989.You may be referring to compromise rule fights between different arts as in this video but the rules are very restricted, wearing boxing gloves,no groundwork,its those 2 things that would make it mma.Outside Brazil there was no MMA until shootout.

The first match is actually Muay Thai vs Goju Ryu. People often say it was Kyokushin but that’s only the second match shown later in the video.

That my is a great lesseon about dont give up. Karate guy is Tadashi Sawamura who becames a kickboxing's legend after be defeat o n that fight and return to rings with a new fighting style.

They were willing but certainly not capable.How would anyone expect a style that focuses on kata, and non headpunching to be able to compete against a pure ring sport dedicated to fighting.

I think an aspect left out is that we should consider which style of STAND UP STRIKING is more suited for street fighting. If you don't execute the Thai Clinch properly you can end up taking yourself down especially is your opponent is more adept at grappling. I'd choose Karate striking techniques for a street over Muay Thai personally.

You're not going to be attacked by a trained wrestler or judoka so thai will be just fine.What strikes me from this video is that zero karate was used successfully, they either couldn't strike at all or wrestled which has nothing to do with karate.In contrast everything the thais did was thai boxing.

@@scarred10 The Muay Thai fighter has better footwork. If you mix Karate and boxing together, Muay Thai has no chance. Boxing isn't only about punching. It has the best movement in all of Martial Arts. Karate does work in a streetfight. I'm a kickboxer and I've used what I've learned in a streetfight and it worked better than I expected

The only problem Kurosaki had was his footwork. Karate footwork is very flat footed. I think this is due to it's orientation towards self-defense. The Muay Thai fighter isn't better at kicking he just has better footwork
