Excellent fight. I had the privilege of refereeing one of Benny's fights in Vancouver, Canada. A superb athlete and fighter he won convincingly and afterwards spent some time in a friendly and inspirational way with some of my students. A real gentleman.

I've never seen anything like this before. I'm astonished. It appears to my eyes that Benny wasn't going 100% the entire fight. That he was literally just warming up and even when it appeared he was struggling he was still only going 60% or so. When he got serious and turned it up a gear, he was on a completely different level. I don't know if anybody else sees this, this is very amazing.

Such a brutal vicious finish! This one and the Suzuki fight established Urquidez as a feared fighter on the Japanese KB circuit. For someone coming from trad.KB it's amazing how quickly he was able to adapt to low kicks, knees, sweeps/throws and the clinching game. Techniques wise not yet on his peak here I guess but as far as speed, accuracy, durability, killerinstinct and pure heart he must've been on his peak around 77-79. Nice spinning back kick in the third and then a grueling pace in the fourth, once Okao gets rattled Urquidez goes in for the kill with a brutal barrage of punches mixed with some straight kicks and then it's good night Okao!

I only recently started watching his fights on youtube and he implements a lot of what he goes over in the book. Starting out slow, testing his opponents weapons and timing and then putting it all together and beating his opponents. Nice addition to any martial art student's library (my opinion).

Urquidez only looks away from his opponent oncew during the entire fight. That's how he was able to just rain hell on Okau. He watched and read every move. Okau kept looking away and was barely seeing what his opponent was doing during the second half. Half the fight is knowing what the enemy is doing, and being able to predict the next move and even watch as that enemy becomes more exhausted and just waiting for them to slip up. Brilliant focus, amazing combos, and such a level-headed attitude. Benny was right at home.

No he wasn't, he was simply the best showman in the business. He was an inspiration to millions, that is true. The magic of movies back in the day were no joke. But he isn't up there with Benny, he was never even close to him. Benny is a world class talent with an incredible kick boxing record against other great fighters. Bruce Lee could probably beat the dust off of 99% of the public but he wasn't touching professional fighters, especially those that have been battle hardened in the ring. Levels to the game.
@Clluthu6 жыл бұрын
I lump people like you the same with people who think he's the greatest fighter ever, without ever really understanding what makes Bruce exceptionally great and one of the best. He was a great philosopher in a time when people were so inflexible and stuck in forms/styles. his basic philosphy of being like water and not conform to a cup as well as take what is useful and discard what is not. he incorporated many styles into his fighting and was even reluctant to give jkd a name as goes against his principles of conforming to style.

Got to give it up for Danny’s opponent. For an Asian fighter in my opinion his boxing Is surprisingly good. Usually from 80s Asian fighters their legs are usually the weapon they’re strongest in. He’s also very poised and clearly is trying to manhandle Benny by clinching aggressively and throwing him around
