Habeas Corpus: • The Supreme Court or High Court can issue this writ against both private and public authorities. Writ of habeas corpus is also known as a writ of liberty . A writ of habeas corpus is issued for release of a person who has been detained unlawfully by the State or by any private individual. A writ of habeas corpus is not issued if the person concerned is not in unlawful detention. • As per a 2018 Cabinet resolution, the government provided 1% reservation to orphans in the open category in the field of education and public employment and the same was given on the ground that orphans could not avail caste benefits or other benefits after they leave children's homes. Maharashtra has given consent of 1% reservation in government jobs for orphans.
