The real Finals MVP. He came back in game 5 with a sprained ankle which kept him out of game 6. An insult they gave it to Magic for his great one game performance

the passing from magic johnson didn't equal the scoring from kareem abdul-jabbar so the 1980 1982 and 1987 finals mvp should've been kareem abdul-jabbar

When your stars are consistent players its easier to build your team around them. Kareem was the most consistent. Throw in the best point guard that can play all positions and rebound. Magic could score more or be a playmaker. Magic kept Kareem happy . Kareem in his prime was the best. And he had a long prime. Not just 5 years or so.

Just so dominant, with the height, the skill and, even at that point, the athleticism. I love Magic but, in my honest opinion, Kareem was the true MVP of this series, so the FMVP. Jabbar put up 33.4/13.6/3.2/0.6/4.6 on 57.8 TS%. Yes he was injured for game6 and Magic had a terrific one (can't forget what Wilkes did though) but, even if they had lost, Kareem would've most likely had returned for game7 to yet again wreck it up. I think his impact during 5 games was higher than Magic's during 6, and without Jabbar they wouldn't even have had a game6 in the first place. Great upload.

+BasketballJones48021 Magic said Kareem deserved MVP of that series during interviews he conducted for the HBO documentary entitled Kareem:A Minority of One;...Magic goes on to explain that he actually offered Kareem the finals MVP trophyto Kareem shortly after receiving it in 1980 as well, but Kareem refused. Kareem was an absolute beast games 1-5 and throughout the majority of the 1st 10-12, if not 15yrs of his career...was also a beast at Boston during the reg season in 1980...He was an institution and legend by the early 80s...All in all best center in NBA history...Wilts numbers were better and he was more dominant individually...Russell won more...Olajuwons moves were better, as was arguably his defensive prowess...Thing is on analysis Kareem stacks up advantageously....Cap dominated Wilt..Cap was complete, better passer than Olajuwon and had greater longevity as a dominant force...Had 20 season career featuring 10trips to the finals including 8 during the most competitive decade in its history, winning championships 18years apart while playing a key role on both ends of the court on several levels from start 2 finish...Russell has more rings than fingers on both hands, but all those rings say only 1 teams name and may as well represent the number of HOF teammates he had as well ...Kareem has more rings than he can fit on 1 hand, just like Mike, but unlike Wilt, Bill, or even MJ, he not only won rings with two different teams, he got to multiple championship finals series with each of those 2 franchises and remains the only reason decades later that the Bucks have ever been relevant...Few centers in history drain GWs at the buzzer-Kareem meanwhile drains long distance skyhooks at the buzzer, even in the finals at Boston while Magic was merely in high school-won in that fashion vs San Diego during magics 1st game as a rookie, then had to calm the young buck, as Cap liked to call him, down.

Agree with you. They could evnetually give MVP to both Kareem and Magic. Giving it only to Magic was a great insjustice.

@@jimjim3979 Wilt dominanted alotta players but Wilt found too many ways to not come thru at times when he could have and lost winnable games and championships as a result and he did it at too many different levels to be ignored...Kareem may not have been as individually dominant but he came thru in the clutch won at all levels and there arent as many missed opportunities which could have gone differently if...learn about how Wilt lost the big one in HS-its covered on ESPN+'s Basketball Love stories the details of that loss kinda serve as the straw that breaks the camels back to me...you have to play to win...i cant put a player who won that much at every level behind someone who found that many ways to lose at every level...

In these season I think Kareem reach his peek physically/athletically at 33 in the playoffs, last time he won season MVP, last time he average over 30 ppg in the playoffs, next to last season to average in double figures in rebounding. After this season, you can see each year, a little of his athleticism fading away, but he made up for it, with great smarts, conditioning and savvy play. He will play for another 9 seasons after this finals, at least 7 of those in still the highest level, unbelievable.
