If you witness the 90s you would understand it, Adam Silver change the game not step, Step is the result by product of new rules, old rules can't improve a quick shot like that cuz they focus in defense which affect the offense as well, elbow knee holding your hips body bump, also before step I play basketball a point guard in highschool league and I Almost only one player in league who have lots attempt use step back shot while my arm straight to the defender why? cuz they holding me up even my jersey, mostly everyone love cross over move like Iverson they love isolation type, even step use Time machine his style won't work cuz his step back and release is not easier than to day cuz they will hold you down that's why I Bird is way more impressive for me in that era, same reason why sky hook never mastered to day, Kareem was very right.

In this era we desperately NEED BOTH!! Appreciate the hook shot, evolve, become better, perfect it, practice it, improve it if you need to. Same goes for the 3-ball, lay-ups, dunks, free-throws, mid-range, blocks, rebounds, assists, dribbling, handling. We need ALL OF IT in the NBA, Collegiate level, HS level & even grade school. Don't "eliminate" any of it. LEARN from it. You don't have to be multi-dimensional & do it all like MJ, Kobe or Lebron. Practice & Master 1 or 2. Let someone else worry about the rest. If you have the natural talent & skill? Then yes, go ahead & be like a D-rose & dominate but if all you can do is Block, Rebound, Dunk, Dribble or shoot the 3? Focus on just 1 or 2. No one's expecting you to be a superhero & do them all equally. Dominate at just 1 if you have to, unless you literally possess the capability of perfecting them all. Every position is useful on the court. Play your position & make it your mission. It IS a "TEAM" sport after all....

Kareem spitting facts. But the reason the 3 took off in the league wasn’t its coolness. It’s the efficiency. Even just 36% from 3 is on par with 54% from the field. And the spacing that provides which in turn makes drives easier. It’s a more effective and complete game
