We may be positively inspired - by others - we have to think - for ourselves. Remember - this is a universe -of change.

I'm surprised that the Western view doesn't recognise Celtic culture and Celtic Christianity in particular, which is based on people and nature together. There was a hint of that only with Karen's reference to the change in the 16th century (reformation). Recovery of Celtic practice would be a really effective step forward.

On an evening walk earlier in the year, I enjoyed listening to the bird call as I was on an estuary at low tide. There were fog walkers around, however I ignored them. My Land lady was quite surprised when I said I ignored the dog walkers

Oh my! I have been an avid Naturalist for over 4 decades and have had a great interest in comparative religion for just a long. I have read a couple of Karen's books and I swear that this is the first time that I have heard the opinion that Islam has a special reverence for the Natural World. Ms. Armstrong states that it is superior to Christianity and Judaism in this respect when I have long assumed that Muslims were the most Biophobic of these Desert religions. I must look into this...and being a man of Science I don't mind that I may have been incorrect in my view.

Africa seems to be always neglected in Dame Armstrong's explorations. The Continent of origins of everything. Vudu, for example, is replete with a co-dependence on nature. And I would point out that those lower case d-ios or g-ods is really abouts saints, who were honored ancestors, who brought great benefits to their communities. This largest of the continents, which gave us the first societies, the first religions, simply disappears in your explorations. It is non-existent in your worldview. You still have time to begin an exploration.❣️🌍

She lost me in the first few seconds.."The hideous weather we had last week shows that climate change is on the rise" Right, so no hideous weather before..😂😂😂

Don't recall Mohammed having much to say about nature. He was too busy slaughtering as is well documented but Karen always turns a blind eye to this inconvenient truth. Just like she here ignores the adoration of nature in Celtic Christianity and monasticism. Many churches, Abbey's, Cathedrals in Britain have carvings of the Green Man. St Albans Cathedral has at least 6.

Karen never fails to expose her distain of Christianity. Every Christian retreat house and monastery i have been to, and I've been to many, has always been located in the most wonderful natural setting or garden. This provides the most perfect setting for prayer and contemplation on the miracle of God's creation. " The whole earth is full of his glory!" I really don't know what planet Karen is living on. I also wonder if she is aware that the Hindu/animist religion of Indonesia which is still alive and well In Bali put nature center stage. Sadly it was largely replaced by Islam which cares little for nature. Arab/Muslim slave traders took 36,000 Balinese from their precious island paradise to the hot desert, devoid of all nature bar the blazing sun.
