For the donation story: I'd go to the place she's donating to with a list of items that went missing and inform them that the items were donated without my consent.

Yeah, I've heard horror stories of people that do this crap at retail places. They'll grab some random item, show up, ask for a refund, knowing they won't get a refund, they start throwing a tantrum in the hopes that you'll placate them with their request so that they'll just leave. They especially have meltdowns if they've gotten away with it before without incident, and you're putting up a fight.

Well in my opinion that one story about the mom taking the stuff and donating it is I think the mother is a Klepto who's using donating things as a justification for her bad habit

Story 1: Uggh, i hate Karen's like this. Did she really think that she could scam this store? Because that is exactly what it sounds like to me. No returns/exchanges without a receipt.. and i guess she doesnt understand the concept of "All Sales Are Final"... whether or not she bought it there or elsewhere. OP should've just called security and/or police once she started with her tantrum. Good on the OP for staying calm, and kudos to the other worker that make a halloween cake with a 'lobster lady' on it, so they could have an extra laugh at her expense. Story 2: OP is not a jerk at all here, Margaret is.... and is she really a good friend here? Maybe it was the alcohol talking here, but she really sounds like a drama queen that requires everyones attention all the time. Life happens and people have other things to do in their lives. Doesn't all revolve around you, Margaret. OP had nothing to apologize for and had every right to up and leave the bar. Story 3: OP is not a jerk at all.... the dad and sister are. Why isn't the dad quick to let the sister move in here, why should this all fall onto the OP's shoulders? The sister is 37....she really needs to grow up here and others need to stop enabling her. Story 4: No way is the OP a jerk.... the mom is here. I get not liking surprises, but with everything being told here, it really sounds like the mom is very annoying and intrusive, and i definitely know i wouldn't want her to be staying with you when you come back home, especially in a small apartment. The mom also didn't do herself any favours by pulling the "single mom" card, along with badmouthing the OP's wife and the guilt tripping paragraph texts. Way to make a case there. Story 5: OP is not a jerk at all. First off, over 100 guests for a baby shower is just crazy to me.... but to each their own. If the brother and his husband really want this big shower event, then they are the ones who should be forking over more of the money, not expecting the OP or anyone else to. He does come off as a bit spoiled here, and certainly unreasonable in many of his expectations. Story 6: No, not the jerk at all... and i wouldn't trust the mother at all here either. She had no right to go through the OP's clothes and donate them. That's just wrong. If i were the OP, i would demand some kind of compensation for them.... some of those could be worth money. As soon as the OP is able to, she needs to move out and go low to no contact with the mom. Story 7: No way is the OP a jerk... Deborah is, especially if she thinks she shouldn't have to pay for this. Regardless of the rental car agreements, this is 100%% Deborah's fault she should be paying the OP back for it and should've been outed for it too. OP didn't go too far at all.

Story 6: It is actually illigal in the united States to sell, destroy, donate, or otherwise get rid of your childs belongings they purchased with their own money. You can however confiscate it until they turn 18. Otherwise, the child can pursue legal action when they turn 18.

There have been plenty of those stories. For example one I remember vividly is a srtory where OP got engaged and spread the news of their engagement at their siblings wedding. They were surprised how everyone was angry at them and not on their side. She decided then that they knew who not to invite toi their wedding.

I wanna say I need that last story cleared up a little bit wouldn’t insurance just cover it? Because this is the second story I’ve heard where the person says they have insurance but then they’re trying to make someone else pay for it is there like a reasoning and is that even I guess I’ll let you go technically because I remember there was a story I commented on a couple months ago where someone’s nephew accidentally set a fire and they’re like oh I have insurance but I’m trying to make my brother pay I think I think it was like $8000. And now this story and one minute is the cousins were going to split it and then all of a sudden one Cousin had to pay 2000 I’m a little confused on that one again doesn’t insurance cover it? I know this is a long comment but if anyone reads it and can you give me some insight, I would appreciate it.

The store owner, as in the owner of the store. Some people say our owner as they are part of a corporation. Corporations take away individuality at times.
