Karen Dalton - two live songs in mini-doc 1969

Karen Dalton sings 'God Bless the Child' and 'It Hurts Me Too' for a French TV short film, 'Unknowns of Manhattan' in 1969. Bob Dylan wrote: "My favorite singer... was Karen Dalton. Karen had a voice like Billie Holiday and played guitar like Jimmy Reed... I sang with her a couple of times." However she disliked the Billie Holiday comparison, saying that Bessie Smith was a far greater influence.

I wish we could hear this particular version of “God Bless the Child” from in its entirety because her harmonies and pitch is much sadder than the other recordings of her playing them.
