When this album dropped I was just starting my journey of becoming clean. Crack and Heroin addict. Got on it at age of 17 in 1998 got clean at 21 moved away stayed clean until 06 relapsed due to moving back to same area and got back in with wrong crowd. But very quickly realised this is not for me and tried to get myself right again but kept failing. So in 09 I put myself in rehab to get clean. Em dropped this album whilst I was in there and it helped me push through everyday this album is a massive part of my life and will always be number 1 for me as I’m now 44 and been clean since 2010. If I’m having a bad day and feel the demons pushing through I put headphones on and put on Relapse it’s literally my Therapy ❤ great reaction Guys keep them coming 🎉

I got lucky getting out of addiction. I was actually 16 when I started drinking heavy and partying. Did that for 3 years straight. But one night I went to a party and drank...and drank...and drank...etc. Just downing vodka like it's water. All I remember to this day, was going to the bathroom to throw up and waking up to a paramedic slapping me in the face in the back of an ambulance. Apparently, I passed out in the bathroom and locked the door behind me. One of my "friends" kicked the door open to help me but ran away once he heard sirens. Some couple I didn't know and I were the only ones left in the apartment when the police and medics came in. I had a .42 blood alcohol level at the age of 19 and not knowing what the hell happened to me was scary enough for me to just never drink again. I'm now 32 and still haven't drank anything. The reason I say I'm lucky is because I was over alcohol by the time I could legally buy it and drink it. I know this has nothing to do with Eminem but just thought I'd share it. Love the channel btw. You guys have chemistry on camera.

He did a little weed and shrooms here and there up until 2001 when he was filming 8 Mile. At the time he was writing & recording for the soundtrack, mixing & mastering his own songs, and putting together other tracks for the soundtrack from other artists. He was also filming the movie and the music video for Lose Yourself as well as being a consultant to help write the script so he was only getting 30 minutes to two hours of sleep at a time in his trailer between takes. That is when he got addicted to the sleeping pills that almost killed him and caused him to get sober.

I loved this album and recovery. I had been a black out alcoholic for about five years drinking to the point of passing out every night and getting drunk nightly for about ten years. About two months before this album came out I quit drinking, lost all my friends because they didn’t want to hang out with me if I wasn’t gonna drink with them because I was “a buzzkill” when I wasn’t drunk. I basically listened to this album all day everyday until recovery came out and then did the same thing with that album. I love those two albums. I’ve been sober now for 15 and a half years and I’m doing what I’ve always dreamed of doing, I live on my own ranch and raise livestock and grow/raise all my own food. I would have never been able to accomplish this if I was still spending $400-$700 a week on bottles of whiskey and gin like I was back then. No to mention with the amount of dumb shit(DUIs, drunk in public’s, fights, running across freeways in the middle of the night, drinking to the point of planning on not waking up and throwing up multiple times in my sleep) I did while blacked out I’d probably be in prison or dead…

Deja Vu is possibly the best song off Relapse very introspective and to clarify Em was never a junkie he was a drug addict tho he explained it once look up his interview about his drug addiction or even his 106 & Park interview in 2009 Em The Goat Of Hip Hop most personal rapper since Pac✍🏽🐐💯(Also this beat is fucking nasty Dr. Dre put his foot in the production on the Relapse album Dre still till this day hasn’t made theses types of unique beats like this for any other artist but Em I hope we get these types of beats consistently from Dre on an Eminem album soon hopefully he fully produces the album as well cause when him and Em link up it’s greatness and masterpieces come out within the process, also it’s a method behind Em’s madness it shows how versatile he truly is as not only a Hip Hop Artist but also a Music Artist just in general and it shows how conceptually genius he is within this song and more throughout his entire discography.)

I relate to this so much. I used to be addicted to Ambiens back in 10th grade. It's crazy how you rationalize it in your head when you're addicted. You say "I'll just have one more, I'm super stressed, and I'll stop tomorrow" And the horrible thing about Ambiens is they put you in that hypnotic state where you just blackout and then you'll take like 5 of em without realizing it. Wake up and get told stories about what you did. There's one story that's pretty funny but not. I once was fucked up on Ambiens and apparently I wedged my undies up and told my sis "look I'm J-lo" But I ain't taken them in a long long time. Also I relate to it cuz the reason I started was because I never processed the grief about my grandmother. I used the pills to escape, and eventually it wasn't even to deal with stress it was just to stop the craving

Been there. It was Dugs when younger then Alcohol 42 now Drank every day for about 15 years started out 1 daily more on weekends By the end of it was drinking litres of spirts a week. Every night waking up in pain like I was getting stabbed. Went on a big bender one night almost 4 years ago 1.75L over about 10-12 hours came home and opened another bottle. Poured it and ended up tipping it down the sink. Went to the Dr after about 6 weeks about the pains Had bloods and told me I had to stop drinking because my levels were like x6 over allowable limit and if I stop they should sort them self out over the course of 3-4 weeks. Didn't tell him I hadn't had a drink for 6 weeks already. Life tests us I have been through a lot Lets just say most of what Em sings about I have personally lived through and more But you have to have something to live for a meaning Be determined to make a change find ways to break the cycle It's not easy
