#4 Reminds me: My friend and I went to our city's Little India for a couple of pashminas as Christmas gifts. We were ready for lunch, and to my surprise, my friend - who is even less spice tolerant than I - suggested we try the lunch buffet advertised across the street. "If you're game, I am!" We went in and sat near the sprawling buffet. Our presence was clearly a surprise to the two gentlemen running the restaurant. We observed an obvious debate about who should handle us, and the loser came over to our table. My friend began: "We were wondering how hot the food in the buffet is?" He held up a one-moment-please finger and hustled back to converse with his friend for a minute. Reaching a conclusion, he came back and pronounced "Medium." For some reason, we decided to stay, to our great fortune both ordering lassis from the drinks list. After extensively sampling the wonderful-looking dishes, we had found but a single offering that wasn't among the hottest things either of us had ever tried in our lives! Our milk-based drinks saved us from second-degree burns as we sipped after each mouthful, and we did enjoy some great flavours, but heat for heat's sake? Never again, thanks.
