@@sarahdlugosh2563 she's complaining to the school board that NWA's 1988 hit, "Fuck the Police" is offensive and should not be part of the curriculum. She goes on to read out loud what is believed to be the 5th verse of the song to explain the derogatory, objectionable, and abhorrent lyrics and nature of the song. Personally, I don't believe NWA is part of the school's curriculum. What I believe transpired was a discussion of the LA riots during social studies. The teacher possibly played a sample of NWA to reflect the African American community’s sentiment of the police during the time. Some kid snitched or bragged about it, word got out and the internet did its thing.

@@Tazirai "how dare they beat the shit out of people of color on MANY occasions for nothing." It's not on many occasions. It's rare as fuck. Usually when the cops are beating someone up it's because the person resisted arrest. " Like How dare they shoot and murder even white youth for the barest things." Unjustified police shootings are exceedingly rare. They happen sometimes but don't pretend like police shooting people unjustifiably is some epidemic or something.

It’s a school board meeting. The school board are not allowed to respond to her and the people in the crowd will get removed if they say anything... that is they are supposed to get removed but they usually are not. LEander ISD has meeting like this all the time. A group of Karen’s have brought dildos and have read only the sexual content out of books at the meetings. It’s ridiculous. Trust me we are fighting them and they are the same people who show up over and over at every meeting. Most of them don’t have kids in the district. I know because it’s my school district and I speak all the time against these horrible people. They hate equity and diversity and apparently all their make believe children are being oppressed and indoctrinated but yet are given too much freedom.
@CecilRyuTaekwondo3 жыл бұрын
If anything, there should be a sanitized version for inclusion in school that has the curse words blacked out or something. Her objections are reasonable at face value, and even if the context is actually educational, it's also reasonable to expect some discomfort. There are A LOT of people who are uncomfortable with vulgarity, especially if we are talking about K-12 education. Just because the n-word has been allowed before does not mean it needs to be allowed now. I could not read some of Mark Twain's work in school because of the n-word, I had to read it on my own. Keep in mind, I am a HUGE Ice Cube fan. But----we are talking about a formal public school environment, K-12, not college and grad school level or a private school.
@CuteTexasToads3 жыл бұрын
This isn’t in the curriculum at all. This is Cheryl Tannehill who regularly attends the meetings and spouts off crazy racist nonsense. She’s talking about the schools use of an internet search platform that blocks out the “bad” stuff for kids to do research on. If you lookup “protest songs” that is included - without the lyrics. She’s trying to fear monger parents, but we all know who she is and just ignore her.
