You don’t have to like it but the fact is that a government official has the authority to have people removed from government property just like you have the right to have people removed from yours. Asking the police to escort somebody off of the grounds is not giving them orders just like you calling them to have someone removed from your home isn’t you giving them “orders”. A police officers job is to keep the peace and though I agree 100% with what this man was saying, he was being disruptive. This officer did exactly as they should have done. To believe otherwise is to suggest that they shouldn’t remove the disruptive person from your house when you want them too.

As a teacher of 15 years, this parent is absolutely right! I have been working in-person at my school since August 2020. My daughter has attended school all year in-person. There is a lot of misinformation out there which caused much fear and enabled many teachers to not want to return to the classrooms. Schools are not petri dishes for Covid and children are not main carriers of it either. It's time for schools to reopen.

Teachers give their all for their students, except their lives. Yesterday, I went to set up my classroom, because our governor told us we are okay to open up, as long as we have protocols in place. I was excited, until I got to my classroom. There were no air purifiers, no hand-sanitizing stations, no thermometers, no PPE that was all supposed to be there. In fact, there were empty paper towel, hand sanitizer, and soap dispensers. We start in 7 days. This was the norm prior to the pandemic. So where did all of the approx. $400Mill go to fund all of this safety equipment they promised us?? So, I am sure teachers will leave the profession or strike. I will use my union to work for me, until they won't anymore. And when they don't anymore, I will quit teaching. Good luck finding qualified teachers to fill these positions. Teachers were quitting prior to this pandemic, because of the lack of resources and support. The US has had to hire teachers from the Phillipines, because of the teacher shortage. They will learn real quick that they will not be respected like they were in the Phillipines. The respect for teachers in the US is obviously learned behavior from parents who don't care about the people who are in charge of their children, while they work. The job is getting more and more stressful as the years go by. College students and new teachers are being told to "get out while they still can" by veteran teachers. I was a college students who heard this the last 7 years. Maybe they were right! When I hear people disrespect us like this, it only confirms the reasons to quit. I love my job and my students. I teach at a public school, rather than a private school, because I believe ALL children deserve a quality education, not just the rich ones. But maybe I need to move to a private, charter, or online school. There are other options, I just was hanging tight! Now I just keep asking myself, "Why?"

ESPECIALLY when it is forced on you not a personal choice. parents also have to work. if daycare & private schools have been just fine they can figure something out for the sake of these children. the amount of parents living paycheck to paycheck can’t hire fancy tutors. and even if they do that’s not abiding social distancing. if hundreds of people per day can touch stuff all through walmart school should be a priority to get back. states that have the loosest mask regulations have the lowest numbers. life has been derailed for everyone for a year now and feel free to waste your life but you’re “point” is irrelevant to the topic. not to mention these kids are going to be a year behind at the LEAST in their education because i do the homeschooling with my kids and it’s a literal joke. they have learned nothing. teachers don’t know how to navigate the websites most of the time. all children have regressed due to their education not being prioritized in any way. and what about all the children who’s only escape from a bad/abusive home life is school? kids who’s parents are detrimental to their mental health? kids who’s only full meal is the lunch provides? make it make sense. bc none of this adds up in a positive way.

You bring up a very good point!!! Not all parents with school aged children were unemployed during this "virus". My daughter and son-in-law both were employed at places that were considered "essential", so they were still working while the school's were shut down. The purpose of schools needing to be open is 1) it is 99.9% chance children will completely recover 2) it puts the choice into the parents hands....they are the tax payer...these schools belong to them, not to some P.H.D. that makes $300,000 a year. Parents have to WORK to support their children and salaries of these union run schools. For every day these schools are closed, any funding that would be used for operations, needs to be divided and refunded to every guardian of every student. This guy needs to run....for any office because his representing the people who matter.....the tax payer. God bless him!
