Hi, I am still learning about art journaling. You mentioned master boards. What is that?
@KarenBurchill3 жыл бұрын
Masterboard is basically a background/ collage paper...where you build layers etc. People take the masterboard and cut it up and use it for backgrounds, collage elements on other pieces of art. One masterboard can be used in multiple pieces. K

i just recently found your channel and I'm loving your way of teaching! I'm new to art journaling. I've made cards and scrapbooked for over 20 years but......it's not the same as mixed media. Being retired I have lots of time to learn a new technique! Are you just using notebook paper to show your different techniques or is it watercolor/mixed media paper? I have most of the products to start including gesso but I know sometimes paper is inportant and don't want to start off on the wrong foot! Thank you!
@KarenBurchill3 жыл бұрын
Typically I use Canson Mixed Media journals. I believe they are 98 pound weight. The pages here are from a repurposed recipe binder...the blank recipe pages. The paper is similar to manilla tags. It is fairly smooth . I gesso most of the pages prior to starting. I recommend using mixed media paper or whatever you would use in a journal....reason being you want the techniques to work the same as they would on an art journal or mixed media piece. HOpe this helps. K

What do you mean by “raw paper” ?
@KarenBurchill4 жыл бұрын
When I say raw paper...I refer to paper that does not have anything on it.....no gesso, no gel medium, no first layer of paint.....typically paint will soak into raw paper....taking more paint...if you gesso it...you can blend paint easier...remove it easier if you make a mistake. Karen
