All thanks and appreciation to director/producer/historian Raoul Peck for presenting the world with this masterful work. Lord I love Professor Hunter! She asks the quintessential question and made the statement of the century to black scholars who find themselves LEARNING! She asks, “How does it free us to have this conversation? ... These conversations are about understanding our relationship to one another, our relationship to history, to this information- getting the facts straight, and then putting perspective on it! Whether people are... (here it comes) WHATEVER HAPPENED, WE ARE ALL RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW UNDER THE YOKE OF SOMETHING THAT A LOT OF US WILL AGREE IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. How do we conquer that? How do we overcome that? The goal is for us to gain as much knowledge as possible ...Knowledge is power. But history is the fruit of power. And whoever wins in the end gets to frame the story! Our goal should be to know as much about ourselves and others so that we can frame the narrative in much the same way as my brother did in this documentary (Exterminate All The Brutes)!” 🎙🎙🎤 drop!!! Sister, I’m in your school FOREVER at 65 years older!!!! 🙏🏽 for this platform and yes I’m a KNARRATIVE MEMBER!!! You helped me to REALLY understand Pedagogy of the Oppressed, by Paulo Freire. I would have liked to hear what the guest had to say, and the point he was going to make. She could have saved her speech, and let him finish his sentence, and it could have been interesting to hear his answer to the question. That was a little disrespectful to him and his time, Why invite him and never give him a chance to say anything pertinent to the conversation. I really enjoyed this show overall, until the end, spoiled it a little for me. I know she was pressed for time, and doing these discussions live is not as easy as it looks. She was most likely worried about KZbin policies.
@Nisa19713 жыл бұрын
@@Msboochie2 if it helps to clarify she didnt invite the guest. Any of us can reach out on Twitter to get on as a guest. I'm guessing that's what he did; kind of like calling in to a radio show you never know what people are going to say. I think Professor Hunter was concerned with the rhetoric; his question/comment saying that human beings are biologically different than each other. A lot of whte supremacists use this same logic to prove the reverse; that they are in fact different/better than all people of color. As a matter of fact there is a scene in the film Exterminate All Brutes that illustrates this very point. In the film a man is lecturing the audience that there are 3 types of humans: civilized, semi civilized and savages. I won't spoil it for you but the result of that lecture scene was so disgusting. Ultimately it's Professor Hunter's platform so she controls the messaging of what the goal of this class is and to go further down that road with the guest may have misled people and missed the mark of what they were discussing.
