The thing is, directly drawing on an uneven surface like that isn't very convenient, it's easier to send your art to a company that makes puzzles with custom pictures, it'd have the proper finish that way too. A lot of photo printing businesses do that for example. But, of course you could also directly draw on one if you really wanted to, it might have a cool handmade feel to it

part of my job at an antique-flipping ebay company was sitting at a table and putting together vintage puzzles to see if any of the pieces were missing or damaged. was quite fun! this reminded me of that lol

@@usernameisusernam aw man, i wish it still existed. it was called estate auctions inc., but i’m pretty sure the company shut down (plus the boss wasn’t that nice 😬 they were not very smart with how much they spent on items they flipped). i did odd jobs around the warehouse, the puzzles but also organizing books and magazines, cleaning tobacco residue off of furniture, repairing broken items, polishing silver, fixing together old letters (we got one in from alexander hamilton one time!), reframing paintings, etc. was a cool job and i recommend finding auction houses local to you if you’re interested in similar! edit: OH! my job was doing all of that, but my mom worked at the same company and her job was to research artists and historical items to gauge their value and write descriptions for the items. so if you ever wonder who does that and how those descs and price tags come about, that’s a cool job too :)

My mother used to manage a thrift shop. She had a regular customer who would buy puzzles, do them, and then re-donate them back to the shop after she was done. Once my mum realised what she was doing, she stopped charging the lady for the puzzles. Said the lady could just take them and return them when she's done. It worked out well, because she was then able to tell my mum if any pieces were missing or damaged. It was just a nice little system that benefited everyone

The dollar tree sells 500 piece puzzles so if you really want to draw on a puzzle you can for $1.25. Plus you get a cozy afternoon putting together a puzzle in addition to drawing on the back and putting it together again backwards.

No one said it was printed on both sides. Shes saying they printed it on "the wrong side". Meaning they printed it on the flat part of the cardboard not the part that its usually printed on. Where did you get that its printed on both sides from?

Yeah, all puzzles are blank on the back. But what she means is that the factory accidentally printed it on the wrong side of the cardboard. The back of a puzzle is usually flatter than the front, so it can sit better on the table. This puzzle was accidentally printed on the "wrong" side, so that it's blank if you flip it over to the correct side.

I've got a Disney puzzle with the same image on both sides but one is sideways from the other; one of those collage pics of the characters in one pose repeated over and over. With the basic grid cut the pieces could fit in multiple places. It took months to put it together so both pics were perfect.

Not printed, just after the printed sheet glued to the cardboard, they die cutted from the non printed side. Maybe you have a rare accident and a very very expensive set from this! Be careful before ruin it!

Because of the way puzzles are cut the pieces are usually rounded on the front and flat on the back. On this puzzle this case they put the image on and then cut it on the wrong side. so the picture is on the flat side not the rounded side. So the image is printed on the “back” of the puzzle.

The back and the front of a jigsaw puzzle are different textures. The pieces are sort of pillow shaped on the front side and flatter on the back, so this is printed on the flat side.

It is because the top of puzzle pieces should be rounded slightly, the back is flat because of the way it was stamped

Uh, most puzzles are blank on the backside, that's been the basic for a long time, unless the company specifically says it on the box that it's a flip puzzle.

Yeah that's not what she's saying. The tops of puzzle pieces are like glossy and the underneath is like construction paper feel. The bottom with no picture was the side that was glossy and the side with the picture had the construction paper feel. So it was printed on the wrong side

Top coat nail polish, can work fine, but unless someone wants to hang it up, then spray on clear gloss would be perfect. 🥰 Now there's a glittery, well shimmery type clear gloss spray.
