Happy for you that it worked out. My opinion of Karesuando has been restored. I guess the work you put into the project will have to be viewed as a learning experience. Looking forward to the next video

I am curious as to whether the overnight soaking in the vinegar my have caused hydrogen embrittlement of the hardened steel. I have seen things like sockets and pliers break due to the embrittlement due to removing rust with vinegar and letting it soak too long. The remedy is easy however. If you put it in the oven at about 300F and let it cook for several hours it will drive out the hydrogen. That temperature is low enough that it won't effect the temper

I guess nobody is perfect .. Still a shame with all the work you put into that knife.. but at least the company handled the situation well. That's the real worth of a company !

Sometimes, there are hidden inclusions in the steel causing weakness which only become apparent when putting stress on the blade. Its a normal part of metallurgy that is kept to a minimum by modern steel production methods.
