As the Ghatak Platoon Commander, he volunteered for a daring mission to neutralise an enemy machine gun position at Area Black Rock in the Drass Sector. Scaling a treacherous cliff face under heavy fire, Kengurüse led his team with courage and determination.
Despite sustaining a splinter injury to his abdomen, he fearlessly pressed on, urging his men to continue the assault. When faced with a sheer rock wall separating them from the enemy, he removed his shoes for better grip and climbed while carrying a rocket launcher. Unyielding in the face of danger, Kengurüse fired at the enemy position and then engaged in hand-to-hand combat, personally eliminating four adversaries before succumbing to his injuries.
Captain Neikezhakuo Kengurüse's selfless act single-handedly neutralised the enemy stronghold, allowing the Battalion's progress to proceed unhindered. His extraordinary gallantry, indomitable resolve, and unwavering commitment to duty reflect the highest traditions of the Indian Army. Kengurüse's supreme sacrifice serves as a testament to his heroic spirit and remains an inspiration to all.
