I’ve had a double mastectomy about six weeks ago. I also had expanders placed. Finally I’m getting some pain relief even with a surgical site infection. I do believe in prayer, and prayerfully prepare for the best.

I love your “TMI’s”. Seriously. Breast cancer patients need to know. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.. it seems everyone tries to gloss over the ugly facts when, really, we need and want to hear the truth. My family glosses over the realities in an attempt to be supportive yet it comes off like a Disneyland trip for the “goners”. Truth is what we need. Thanks again. And God bless you.

I had only a lumpsectomy...doctors choice and I just followed all their decisions. However I hear that some people get recurrence on the surgical line...and some get recurrence even after removing both. I feel like I'm in a sit and wait situation. The whole journey is so surreal and shocking even 1 year later...my everyday revolves around this horrible disease....best wishes and hope for longevity to all of us.

Thank you Karina for sharing your story, very informative. My situation is different but I could understand so many of the things you we’re talking about but I also learned some things too. At the age of 50 I was diagnosed with MS, CIDP, FIBROMYALGIA, and THYROID DISEASE my life changed completely but I already had implants . Like you I am petite so I got the smallest implant just to proportion my body to a more hourglass figure. I’m leaving out a lot but to get to the main thing that happened I had Allergan textured implants and they were being recalled because they were causing cancer in some patients. So I met with my Dr who recommended in my situation it would be best to remove them. My decision was whether to replace the implants or take them out completely. Allergan would cover the implant but patients would responsible for the rest of the cost. I’m thankful I could have covered the rest but with my health and age now about to be 58. We have been married almost 38 years, I know this will be my only marriage because of my health and my husband has been amazing and continues to be, 75% of marriages don’t make it through chronic illness. Like you we are Christian and my Dr is Christian too I struggled so much but decided my situation as it was to let them go and not have that as another concern in the back of my mind. But even today 1 1/2 later I don’t like the way I look , I’ve even had fleeting moments of having implants again. Please pray I can stop getting in my head, I know our breast don’t define us but its also a very important part of our femininity too. God has been so Great to us and without him I could do nothing. I was on a walker but now I’m able to walk on my own but have had a slight decline this year and I have not been able to build back the muscle tone I had gained but not giving in or giving up . Living in the moment!!! Blessing, love and prayers to you and yours 🙏🤩💛🇺🇸

I realize this vlog was done quite some time ago. I just want to tell you that you are inspiring me. Thank you for telling us all about it. I went for a mamogram 2 days ago (swelling under my armpit and swelling on the breast). Have been quite sick for a long time. Well, they called me the very next morning and they are having me come back to have another mamogram and an ultrasound. I'm so so worried. I have autoimmune issues and my immune system has been very low for a long time. I'm just afraid. It's so scary not knowing what I'm facing, but, knowing what it could be 😔. You are so encouraging. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. This is the information I need. I'm likely getting the same: mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with tissue spacers and implants, over the muscle. I also have ductal carcinoma, but mine is invasive - 3 lymph nodes were cancerous. I've had a lumpectomy, skin and 12 lymph nodes removed. They didn't get all of the cancer and so it's either another surgery to remove more tissue, plus daily radiation for 5 weeks, or a mastectomy. The mastectomy won't require radiation, which kills healthy tissue - I'm getting a second opinion but probably going with the mastectomy. It's terrifying. Thanks again.

Hi Caroline. Im so sorry to hear you are going through this. I was also diagnosed last week. I have a 4 cm tumour in my left breast and also in the axilla, the lymph node. The cancer is estrogen positive but im waiting for the results of the FISH test which will determine if I need chemo before the surgery or after. This is the most scariest time of my life. I look to God every single day and ask him to hear my prayers. I just want to grow old with my husband. I pray everything will work out for you ...🙏🏼

@@Gigi-amore Hi Gigi, I'm so sorry! I hope you have a treatment program that works for you overall - to kill the cancer, without lasting side effects. There are several choices, none are great. It's tough. But they are more knowledgeable than years ago, and are better at finding the right treatment, so that's good. Praying for a long healthy life for you, and that you grow old with your husband. 🙏💗

I have to strongly disagree. I had a bilateral mastectomy 3 weeks ago and rather than finding the missing breast area and scars DISTURBING like you said, I actually felt the opposite. Who cares what it looks like. I was quite pleasantly surprised by how they looked. I had one scar on each side and I had extenders inserted. You see, nothing would look bad to me because by having my breasts removed the chances of me surviving this nightmare had quite possibly increased. So it shouldn’t be about the look of your scars and missing breasts it should be about getting healthy again so you can move on knowing you have done the right thing.

I remember after a week when the surgeon removed my bandages and I got a first look at my incisions (bilateral mastectomy with expanders) I didn't cry or really feel a huge loss. I said, "huh..they don't look bad at all!" Not even bruised! I now have implants which I'm actually going back in to size up and have some other things done to fix some rippling and drooping. Otherwise I'm happy. After six rounds of intense chemo...surgery was nothing. The chemo was worse! I was bald, pale, down 20lbs and flat chested for a bit but I am cancer free!!

I was very relieved that I do not need Chemo. But grappling with having to have radiation therapy. I prefer just the lumpectomy and then watching it carefully. Hi karina . I agree with you. When people was telling me what to eat when I was diagnosed, it was so irritating. People I know that are cancer survivors keep reminding me that it is not the time to diet. And also after my surgery, I end up with 3, my body looks weird. Not just my chest area but my tummy was so round too. But I was not eating more than how I was eating ore diagnosis. But of course my body went through a lot and I was not as active after my surgeries. Surgeries took a toll on my body and it took a while for my body to recover. I am still recovering and doing exercises to get my range of motion back from my last surgery. Right now, I am not even close yet. So if someone going to tell me to diet, I would probably give a middle finger too 😂.

I just had surgery I have Triple negative metaplastic cancer. It's a very rare cancer…….Really the don't 23:12 know much about it. I am scared to death. I'm 72 yrs old. I'm starting chemo…6 cycles, they are saying it going to be pretty rough….after that I do 16 rounds of radiation. Still I'm so scared. They said they had it all when they removed my breast and lymph nodes. Now they are saying it's so rapid it can come back in other parts of my body. I would like to know if anyone had this cancer?😢😢😢

Katina I have a question on symptoms. My sister has already had breast cancer last year and because she's immediate family and I'm in My 50s my risk is now higher. I've watched a few of these and one lady described some of her symptoms, one being itchy nipple on one side only. Off and on I get the nipple itch on my left breast only but have only just started praying against it since seeing her video. Was this a symptom you had? This question I know is also TMI. Thank you and may our Lord Jesus Christ continue His healing touch over your body as you go forward in Jesus name. Amen. I'm Caroline from Canada. 🇨🇦🙏👼 bless your mom. My mom just recently died in January so I wouldn't have that blessing.

@@seetasingh2032 If you don’t like the use of cuss words, don’t use them…no one is suggesting that for you. Karina was not hurling cuss words to you in a personal way, so please stop with your sanctimonious rhetoric.

You’ve just missed the whole thing. First thing she thought of was her family and that she did not want to upset them. That’s what being a really good human about. Putting others first. It is interesting what you’ve picked to be upset about…. She’s such a brave cancer survivor telling her story and you are making a fuss about, what, words?
