This is a true expression of the life of an entrepreneur. This is realistic and very similar to my life. I run a cleaning business. There is no too much glam and you have to work.

Honestly Architecture is on a different level.. Designing from scratch .. not just having an existing building and decorate it from inside. Architecture is the best.

hi Ms. Karin, I envy your success because I see my self in you. your indoor/outdoor meetings, your angelic humor, your creativity etc. I was hit by unwanted financial setback & couldn't push my company, what is sad is I am back to being cubicle employee doing my best also as a designer but sometimes got burnout. The good part is I see a recommendation from youtube your videos & yes this is just what I need. I watch your vlogs as much as I can as I love the natural you behind the screen. correct! no formula for success. Plan your work Work your plan. thanks for that Ms. Karin. keep it up.

I just discovered your channel yesterday and I am in love with the spirit of your content. I am not an entrepreneur and I don't have that mental state or drive...my dream is to be an elementary school teacher, but your advice in regards to putting in work, being willing to make sacrifices and realizing that failure is not failure but instead a teaching lesson in disguise....all of that applies to every single one of us, no matter what we are doing. You have helped me to realize that I am not a failure if I don't pass a class (I just need to get back up and retake it), that I can't sacrifice doing college work in order to have fun all the time, etc. I had a knockdown and I decided that made me a failure....but it doesn't and it makes me feel better that I am not the only one who feels this way. Thank you very much and especially for being a joy to watch due to your pleasant attitude! *sorry for the very long comment*

Hi Karin, thanks for sharing your hustles with us and it has been very motivating. I love how driven you are and uber focused on everything you do in your videos and staying level-headed (what a successful entrepreneur seems to be). Also, I find how you say "hey?" at the end of your casual questions adorable!

Karin and team.. thank you for great content and motivational advice! I have always had love for the arts and truly feel that I am in my natural element when I am around it. After watching you I decided to take interior design classes and start my business in Apex NC, Thank you so much! I feel for the first time after much education and many jobs I am following what my heart has always wanted me to do from the start. I am 44 years old and I believe its never too late to change your career. Life brings so many unexpected events and I'm truly blessed that I found your vlogs! Although I am not an entrepreneur yet, I pay attention to people in leadership positions. For a good example the VP of my unit at my job. I like how he meets with all the leads for their one-on-one and how he asks for help when he needs something and his mind is focused on getting out an email that talks about our service. I have felt very comfortable knowing I have a person like him in leadership. I had another supervisor like that. I truly appreciate them.

Karin, great video as usual! I am really appreciating how you are being so raw and honest about the realities of entrepreneurship. It's a refreshing change from the usual "glamorized" way society seems to be increasingly promoting it. I have a question for you. With all the stress, pressure, sacrifices, ups, downs and struggles you've experienced, would you ever trade in your business for working for someone else? Btw - of course I clicked like and will definitely share with people I know:)

Hello Karin! Thank youuu so much for all your lovely content! Yourself and your team are so wonderful and do such a great job! I'm inspired to start a KZbin channel based around the life of a third year interior architecture student in South Africa and your videos give me so much knowledge and enthusiasm about design and lifestyle in general which excites me so much! I've been really struggling to be confident with my voice on social media but through hard work and determination, there's no stopping me :) I shared the video on Facebook so hopefully my other interior students can gain the inspiration as well! So much love and well done so far! x

I know this is an old video, but I am currently in the midst of changing my career to interior designer. I went to school for business, you don't need it to start a business. Unless, like Karin said, you go in with someone else and one of you has business and the other has the skill of said business. But through my business career, I met soooooooooo many people who have businesses and never went to school of business. And the one thing I did learn in school, was just get the business started and figure the rest out later. There are books and two day courses on how to start and run a business. Just focus on your clients/customers, and make sure you can make money from your business, and the rest falls into place. In Canada thankfully its not hard to start a business. It took me 1 meeting and 1 phone call to the gov for a GST number and I had a business. Dont over think it, one step at a time.

Karin, I'm not sure if you're sick of hearing this, but these videos are truly so helpful for fellow Designers such as myself. You are such an inspiration! You recently shared on your IG stories that your father died when you were 11 and unfortunately we have that in common. I lost my dad to cancer when I was 15, and that happened to be the same year I fell in love with Design. I so wish I had these videos back then so I could see a powerful woman like you hustling in this very hard industry. I've been grinding for 10 years and every day is a challenge, so I know how hard you've worked to get to where you are today. You should be so proud of yourself, and don't ever be afraid to say it. And your dad would be proud, too ;) PS; LOL @ your Jr. Designer's job site footware. No shade, get it girl with those Loubis! haha

I knew it was not necessarily an easy profession, but your real life videos make it clear just how many aspects you have to juggle on a daily basis .... and how difficult it can be ..... it actually is truly mind-boggling ..... Also just watched your 2017 video where you sum up the year and am very happy to see that despite all the demands on you professionally, you do make time for your husband, family, dog, vacation + fun ....... AT THE PACE YOU ARE GOING YOU DO NEED SOME RELAXATION + RECREATION AS WELL .... so please keep taking good care of yourself in that regard as well ..... you clearly take great care of your team + the other people you work with ........... Well don't pass judgement too quickly. i understand your perspective on it though... There's an interior designer here and she never went to trade school, she opened up shop about 20 years ago and she has nothing but business. Even we collab with her. She does residential and commercial as well. Myself, never went ti architect school, but learned from a=other archs, developed my skills and took some falls before a rise again stronger. Now i collaborate with my I/D and other archs and/or engineers. In the end, clients(here at least) can care less about sheets of paper from a school, the results are what they seek. If they ask for a style or design and you deliver, you've promoted yourself from that post-interview meet to the actual project and it scales from there. At that point it's about the business ethics and so on and only that one person running the show can define that. I started with nothing and never had money to afford expensive course, i learnd from others in the field and when i grew, i them when to a small carpentry skill class and later framing courses and even took a CE course on engineering just so I can gather knowledge in multiple aspects. So "I wouldn't just open up an interior design business and not know anything" ... of course you wouldn't lol. You gained knowledge before you were 100% able to provide.

Hi Karin! My name is Bridgette and I’m a pillow designer. I also love home decor and I am very good at it collaborating colors and furnishings. I would love to have my own design company, but do you think It is necessary to go to interior design school to have an interior design business? Is it a requirement in order to take on certain kinds of projects? P.S Thank you for being so inspiring I absolutely love your channel. Keep it going!

Bridgette Selmer Hi Bridgette, that sounds amazing that you’re a pillow designer! As far as your question about school, I feel like it’s a loaded question. Maybe I’ll try to address this in a video because many people have been asking the same question!! Thanks so much for watching my content. ❤️🙏🏼

No shade, I don’t know if she’s an introvert, but that girl Kristy comes across as the biggest snob. She’s always chuckling and casting her eyes. But Karina is awesome, so cute and looks adorable.
