I havent heard this song for many years but I still sing it in my head regularly. Karine Polwart is one of the songwriters of our generation.

I sing this song to my little four month old son. This song brings me comfort when I worry about the future that he will face.

I heard that Karine wrote this for one of her children. If you listen closely to the lyrics it becomes clear that it's true. Every time I hear this it brings tears to my eyes. Such beautiful sentiments eloquently put into words & music, wonderful & one truly blessed child.

Saw Karin Polwart as a support act to Seth Lakeman a few years ago at a small gig in Hatfield Forest and I thought she was amazing and still do. This song can bring a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat.

Quite lovely. I love the natural acoustics of an empty room. When I bought my last house, before the furniture was moved in, I had to have a jam session with some friends.

It's a finger harp based on the Kalimba or Marimba from Africa. The song and an interview with Karine is featured in my film A Day to Fix My Hedgerow which is viewable also on KZbin.

It's a tenor guitar. Here is made by Martin, I think......
@TheRobshiels3 жыл бұрын
@@pauljenkins2501 Exactly right and tenor guitars are really quite popular on the "folk scene" as are their slightly smaller cousins the baritone Ukulele. Kate Rusby's band usually features at least one or two Martin 4 string tenor guitars.
