HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

I kinda want the short story of how it occurred to him to do this. Like he is a guy whonis oddly passionate abaut reducing pain through tooth care.... One day doing a routine cleaning and checkup on a kid for a local family and the kid is asking all sorts of questions. So... maybe the kid starts off apprehensive.... so the dentist says something about how everyone needs to go to the dentist at some point.... any living creature, with teeth, anyway. And the kid starts trying to see if there is one the dentist is wrong about. Dwarves? And he tells a story about one that passed trough town a few years back and had a tooth that had to be pulled.... but how difficult it was because the dwarven teeth are so well set in. Then the kid askes about elves, and he says something about how they don't need dentists very often. That they do some special thing to clean their teeth.... magic or something. But he had gotten involved once with an elf that had some bad tooth pain and he had found that it had gotten cracked from battle at one point and after a while had developed a deep infection that their magic mouthwash tecnique didnt get down to. Then the kid askes about animals, horses and sheep. And the dentist admits that on occasion a farmer will call in with an issue. Thats when the kid goes "wow, you have worked on... like everyones teeth! What is it like to help out a dragon with tooth pain?" And thats when he realizes.... he has never heard of anyone work on dragons teeth.

ROLF I can just imagine one of the other dragons watching this Human enter a Dragons mouth with no fear do something then just waltz back out and tell the dragon to wait a bit then fire off a fire blast, I loved the idea a brave human just pops in and looks around then starts his profession on them telling them he is here to fix teeth and tells them some hygine tips saying he will be back to do more and only takes a couple of coins for his work, I hope there is apart two of him coming back with his helper who probly faint when seeing the "patient".

Reminds me of Prostho Plus by Piers Anthony. It is a humorous space opera which follows the adventures of a prosthodontist, Dr. Dillingham, who is picked up by aliens who are in need of dental work.

It's always so uncomfortable at the doctors office for that scenario so I'd love to laugh at how it is portrayed for dragons.

I'm reminded of _Prostho Plus_ by Piers Anthony (1971). A collection of stories about a prosthodontist who was kidnapped from pre-contact Earth by some aliens who needed a dentist. He is then traded off & shuffled around the galaxy treating various patients.

Reminds me of a story of a dentist getting abducted by a bunch of whale-like aliens to help their young prince who had a toothache. He had to climb into the tooth to dig out a cavity, almost got squished when the kid yelled in pain, and used a few wheelbarrow-loads of gold to fill the tooth. Told the kid’s parents to stop giving him so much candy, and was sent home with a few pounds of gold for payment. Don’t remember title or author, but it is at least 30 years old

Nothing improves the mood of a dragon, like removing a rotting half knight from their mouth. Damned chain mail gats stuck between the teeth, where claws cannot reach it! Well almost nothing! They still like juicy gosip more than a juicy stag. Its why they hoard gold , or lair in places gold is close to the surface. Works like an amp for their communication spells. When you live atop a mountain, good entertainment is important! Of course they can always shape shift to human form, but its uncomfortable. Its like wearing skin tight jeans. They may look great, but your bladder feels like its in a vice. Imagine that for your whole body, then ad a dragon's temper.
