For the opening of the exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty at the Met Museum, I went back to the archives of the channel to offer you a re-edit of my old video on Karl Lagerfeld's last fashion show at Fendi. This shoot and this video are suspended and touching moments with Karl Lagerfeld. He talks about the collection, his way of working, the atmosphere in the Fendi studio. We follow him at the fittings and backstage. Silvia Venturini Fendi describes her long relationship with the designer and his creative process. Enjoy the film!

Amanda Harlech’s journey with Chanel is so interesting. Karl really saved her at a difficult point in her life, she was going through a divorce and shed recently been forgotten by Galliano with his move to Dior (she had been his muse and really helped get him in contact with people in fashion, like Andre Leon Talley, who all helped him make his first and second collections on an extremely small budget (50k if I remember correctly)) But, Amanda didnt immediately move to Chanel. She felt disloyal to Galliano despite everything and was reluctant to go because of it. However, after Andre entioned to Karl that she was available he sent her to Chanel to get whatever she wanted for an upcoming couture show. They met afterwards for the first time and it was an immediate connection, he told her to get anything she wanted from couture and she ordered a floorlength black coat. She ummed and erred for a few months, but eventually joined Chanel where she stayed as muse throughout the years. Such an icon 🙌

of course I didnt know him, i have never met him but still, i somehow miss him because to me it feels like I've spent so much time with him. I will always remember the days and years, back when I was 20 struggeling to find purpose in life and couldnt sleep because of all these evil thoughts in my head, I had my laptop next to me in bed. I was watching interviews from Karl over and over again each night and with the comfort of his voice and inspirational thoughts I was able to calm down and fall asleep. I miss this comfort knowing that he's still around creating pure art and making the world a little better. This video is a great way to honor him and his work for Fendi, well done! I think I'll watch it again tonight in bed.
