The aria was the signature tune of the "Fivve to Ten" religious programme on the radio when I was a little boy. My mother always turned off immediately after the signature tune but it was something I looked forward to each day. It used to make me think of green trees swaying a gentle summer breeze. I am no longer so romantic but do prefer a performance like this, in touch with Nature, rather than the "authentic" performances of today which seem to reflect a world of motorway haste rather than the fastest things known to Handel. Anyway, this is beautiful music beautifully played.

Così si esegue la musica barocca! Grandissimo e perfetto Karl Richter. Al rogo i farisei della musica con i loro strumenti originali che distruggono la bellezza del barocco!!

This performance reminds me of those played by BP(o) conducted by Karajan. Are these interpretations old-fashioned? But so far as Handel's Concerti Grossi is concerned, so-called modern heavy orchestration is very suitable to the music, IMHO. Because I like this Concerti Grossi very much, I compared many different performances, and I found I love this little outdated style (?) best, which best suits this music series (IMHO).

Did Karl Richter ever perform the concerto in A major HWV 296?
