Today show hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson have struggled to repress their laughter over unexpectedly raunchy comments made by a 93-year-old newlywed.joke
Canberra resident Sylvia Martin, 93, waited two decades to marry her beloved fiancé Frank Raymond, 88, finally tying the knot earlier this week.
Ms Martin’s story, shared by Today show reporter Lara Vella, featured the bride sharing the request she made of her then-fiancé.
“I said to him, ‘If you don’t lay on me with that one tonight, I will lay on you’,” Ms Martin can be heard saying to family and friends.
Ms Martin’s granddaughter, visibly mortified by the account, immediately tries hushing her parent.
Ms Martin however pursues the confession to its slightly uncomfortable end, provoking laughter from Today show co-hosts Stefanovic and Wilkinson.
Slightly red-faced and barely containing her giggles, Wilkinson asks, “Did she really say that?
“I mean Sylvia, go Sylvia! Oh we are so happy for you, there’s plenty, plenty still going on with Frank and Sylvia.”
“Isn’t she a livewire… Did she really say that?” Stefanovic asks.
“I think she did,” Wilkinson confirms.
