Let’s face it, you can’t get much bigger shoes to fill than Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest of the Star Trek crew!! They all nailed it!! Other than that, you are completely right: My comment is uncalled for, and over the top. I just felt but-hurt in that specific moment. Btw, now you follow up: Name me one single role that would make him worthy of an actual award? I can't name one. Dredd? Maybe... He is great in it, but the movie itself is not that great. I once went to a convention and I didn't know Karl Urban was there, I went for Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek, he is so nice), I am very shy, and out of a sudden, Karl Urban had his arm around my shoulders saying something along the lines of 'Why are you asking him for an authograph? I'm a better Star Trek character!' I just looked at him STUNNED, I had no idea what was happening my voice disappeared, he IS perfect for Butcher in 'The Boys', he acts just like him

"he acts just like him" Did he also swear in a Mockney accent? Which admittedly has improved a lot by this last series, given that there were moments in the first series where he sunk to near Dick van Dyke levels.

I just re-watched Dredd (in 3D) last night and Karl Urban does SUCH a fantastic job in it. That movie never got a fair shake and is so completely underrated. I’d love to see a sequel for it. And for anyone that has seen it but not in 3D, I know that it’s a dying tech but if you can find a 3D TV and a BluRay player (even a PS4 for example), check it out. It’s almost like a painting, especially in the slo-mo sequences, with how much work they put into the various layers to give it depth, perspective, size, and scale. Alex Garland wrote it (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Ex Machina, etc.) and some say he shadow-directed it too. Anyhow, would love to see Dredd 2. I also loved Urban in the Riddick series, and DOOM, and a lot of other roles in films that weren’t huge but have sort of become cult classics over time as opinions change.

I love how much people love New Zealanders! Within the past month we've seen PM Jacinda, Taika and now Karl. Other NZers living in America to have on are...Martin Henderson, KJ Apa, Melanie Lynskey, Rose McIver, Anna Paquin, Keisha Castle-Hughes.

I've been saying it for years, even before people bandwagoned on him, Karl Urban should be in every video game adaptation and comic book movie. They criminally underused him with that stupid character in Thor. He should be "a" list marvel hero or villain. He is just too good.
@MorriganWarrioress2 жыл бұрын
I'm not even the biggest Marvel-comic nerd, and I can tell you that the character they based him off of for THOR3 was an interesting character who had a really cool story arc that allowed him a meaningful death that served as a redemptive arc AND allowed Thor to save the day ("I can't save the day, but I can save you so that you can save the world" kind of thing). Instead, he got to be Cate Blanchet (who is amazing in THOR3, no diss here)'s errand boy, the punching bag for jokes, and has a blink and you'd miss it redemptive death at the end. [Granted, they did even less with Lee Pace's character in the MCU, and Ronan the Accuser has an amazing arc in the comics]

And the proposed plot for the sequel they planned when making the first one is controversial, it's from a existing comic and has Dredd going up _against_ democratic activist because he believes Humans aren't capable of the judgement to control themselves. But it got shelved because Dredd didn't do well enough at the box office.

Wow. I was not expecting big bad "Butcher" to be so anxious and shy. Sure, he pulled it off without a hitch (obviously not his first Rodeo), but his nerves were apparent as he sped through each story and exchange. He even appeared a bit star-struck in Stephen's presence. Understandable but unexpected. Goes to show that even talented actors who face cameras as a career can still experience stage-fright and the associated anxiety that affects so many of us when speaking before a live audience. Gives me hope that I can push through the fear and, with practice, find some measure of confidence in front of a crowd.
