That's a great analog setup. I recently had a Tecnics SL-1200mk7 with Nagaoka MP-200, and that's a killer combination. Thank you so much for sharing.

If the experimental genre is not for you, you might try the various soundtracks that we have, or the Octoberween playlist if you like soundtracks from horror movies.

@@cjsvinyl Thanks for your comment. I don't think Stockhausen would have characterized his music as experimental! He was saying something! The guy was a formidable personality, no doubt. His attempts at creating sonic space with new electronic techniques were successful. But ultimately he was a kook, or became one. Assuming his music aspires to more than simple ambience (and it does - he did not write film soundtracks!), then his theories and compositions were ultimately dead ends. Like much (not all) of the post-war avante garde (Babbitt, Birtwistle, Foss, Boulez, Schoenberg, Riley, Ligeti, Berio, etc. etc. etc.), whether second Viennese or beyond, the results to my ears are more of a triumph of technique over substance. Stockhausen also imbued a lot of his work with a theatricality that does not come across in recordings, and waxed on with theoretical musings that were too dense and disconnected from real life to be of much use to anyone. I would also distinguish the difference between creating a mood and composing a structured work. Many of the horror soundtracks you point me to creates fabulous moods for their purpose, but most people, even those who are fans of the music, would not listen to it but for its association with the cinematic narrative. In the same way Stockhausen's music, to me, is unmoored and pointless without his extra-musical essays and commentary. Any organization in it cannot be discerned through listening, or maybe only after fifty times, and why bother? Is anyone really moved by this music viscerally? Much is said about his "influence", but it was probably more by his daring and scope than actual sounds. And it did not last: Today he is merely a historical curiosity. I took a listen because it had been a long time since I have. My opinion of Stockhausen remains unchanged despite the effort. TL;DR: The further you wander from the natural harmonics of the modal scales and heart-beat based rhythms and pulses, the more people you leave behind. This kind of music appeals for a very narrow, mainly intellectual and academic crowd.
