A girl lived a few centuries ago, a man she'd known once who loved her wrote a poem about her and so she's now being sung about in a beautiful song hundreds of years after she died, I love art. Wonderful song, you did the poem justice!

That castle in the background is definitely Eilan Donan Castle in Scotland! I am so proud of recognising it, because I am not Scottish. I only drove by the castle in a bus a few months ago and was impressed with its beauty. 😊

Only "...a bit of heavy reworking and rewriting?" You are entirely too modest and I love that your voice and your musical ability have given new life to two of these old and beautiful poems already. This song makes me hope there will be many more. I truly love this song, and Willian Motherwell's spirit is smiling somewhere tonight.❤

Thank you. I loved how your beautiful song, grounded in the poem of William Motherwell, opened up for me --feelings of my mother's maternal Scottish (Morrison) ancestry. Introduced new words such a "gloaming" and made me curious to learn about the life and works of Motherwell (wiki). I've ordered "The Harp of Renfrewshire" (Cornell U. reprint, 2009). Peace and many blessings ✨

I ❤ Karliene's voice and original music but I am particularly delighted when her soul brings her to preform an old ballad. Her voice and musical interpretation takes me back like a historical book or movie. ❤ 2:34 2:34

Karlienes done it again just such a beautiful flow of voice and instruments. It's like a 100 year aged whiskey it mellows and becomes richer the longer it ages. Karlienes songs just keep growing from years ago to the future I just can't stop re listening over again and again.

Wow. HOLY MAZZILLO! What a SUPER HOT VIBRATO you got there!!!! And that effect I'm not sure of the name but I like to call it the 'Kelly Clarkson' effect. It's where there's one or more voices in one octave, then others on a different octave in the background. Kelly Clarkson was the first I heard to use that effect a lot, and it makes it sound hotter. And "Mazzillo" as in 'Holy Mazzillo' is the name of a great maker of my favorite instrument in the world (Italian bagpipes, yes, there are such things).

@@Karliene you must develope such a connection with any character you spend time with, the discovery, writing then the passion and love within your songs. You are their bridge between the worlds. Please excuse my curious mind, is there a historical character (known or not known before you chose to write for) you now have a deeper love and understanding for?

This is stunning. The harmonies, melodic form and arrangement are beyond gorgeous. Thank you for this. Its truly enveloping. A song that sings of one whom we will never truly know, but glad you brought her to our awareness xx Edit; ps. I realise now uou the singer of the Siren Song and Atlantis. How extraordinary I should be drawn to both these songs. Time to discover more.

I wish you would do concerts...this, all your talent and art,... I really wish we all could see it live, it would blow my mind and heart. You are ASTONISHING (no matter what your mind tells you!!!! you are so valid and full of art!!!). I appreciate your music and your references a LOT. I've known so many stories of real (and imaginary) women thanks to you and every song is like visiting a whole new world, lost in woods, sea, space, planet...you mean a lot to me Karliene, and to many people Im sure. Haha, the 'music' on the radio is indeed terrible, I'll agree with you there, but if you're willing to hunt for it, you can still find some fantastic artists making gorgeous music. It depends on what you like to listen to.

This is great love story still being sung about, excellently I might add! There’s a better one still being offered to all in the Bible! “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son. That whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. “ There’s a real love story, that anyone who will, may claim.

@@Karliene I look for music like yours since I really can't stand mainstream since it's not great and lots of songs sound the same it's a mess. Independent artists who are actually making music because they love it and work really hard to make something beautiful are the type I like to support. :')
