....... LYRICS.......
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Yesterday holds memories in time -
Remember me to the one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine -
Tell her to think back upon younger days
Yesterday holds memories in time -
And seek yonder crossroads where we parted ways
Then she'll be a true love of mine -
Tell her to follow the path to the shire
Yesterday holds memories in time
For there she'll find her heart's true desire
Then she'll be a true love of mine -
Tell her to come to the old willow tree
Yesterday holds memories in time -
Where spirits of lost love yet whisper to thee
Thou art still a true love of mine -
Tell her to gather three lilies of white
Yesterday holds memories in time -
To place at my headstone, beneath the moon's light
Then she'll be a true love of mine -
For ever she'll be the one true love of mine -
.......

The meaning of love and about the counties called shires in old England This being were i live , Yorkshire was all farms and back in those days hundreds of years ago the farmer road to Scarborough town on the coast were a pageant was held for young maidens who hoped to me a prospective husband . The pageant was held just out side the town and was held a few days a year .This itself ran for a few hundred years ..Many a love was found but back in those days life expectancy was not much than 30 years of age .So it was very important to find love but with so little people around and farmers were all ways working meant finding a lady was impossible . So they got the horse and cart, and on there way picking up other young farm hands and traveled with the farm owners . The farm owners would drop them off while they carried on into the town market to sell their goods . On there return the farm owner would pick up the farm hands and travel back to the farms . But one farm hand fell in love with a special lady and hoped to return to the pageant where he had made a promises to return . But unfortunately he died but leaving a message to asking his friend to deliver to the lady . Asking for here to bring 3white lilies to his grave ..to show and connect there wanting love ............So sad, .as...... did she take 3 white lilies and find his grave . We have here in England many church yards dating back a thousand years . Most placed on hills built of stone and towering hundreds of feet and all with grave yards . Were would he be ? The music connects these two lives ....showing how short life can be ............ My son died after suffering juvenile Huntington's Chorea , He never got to embrace a women or feel love . My daughter also died 6moths after my son , but she was lucky in having love even though only for a short while, So the farm hands love can be felt right through this song , just think how he felt on that wonderful day.................. Gene

It was nice to find her and talk about the last 15 years. She forgives me for losing her number haha. Wow... I just found this song, and I remembered visiting Scarborough, England when English Heritage had jousting there in 2006... I met an absolutely stunning girl from northern ireland there with the most gorgeous blue eyes you'd ever see. we were both in our mid teens (she 14, me 15), and hit off instantly. I was dressed up as a squire (I do love LARP, Live Action Role Play), she was dressed as a peasent! We were staying on the same camp site and spent pretty much the whole weekend together. She and I had my first kiss behind one of the craft beer tents... when she had to leave, she gave me her number and I foolishly lost it, not having my phone on me in all my LARP gear... I still have a picture my mum took of us in my old scrapbook with our names in a big heart... I hope, wherever she is. she remembers me as fondly as I remember her.

Beautiful, haunting song. I as 15 first I heard this song. Was living in Hollywood Ca.. Having lived in rural Al. and a country boy, it was almost magical living in the land of film. And the music I remember from those days haunt me still. We didn't stay there long before coming back to parts in the S.E. I'm glad we did come home, but the experience of California is one I'll always remember.

Yes, until someone changes the lyrics and calls it progress. Why change the lyrics? herbs are way too natural? might be labelled as "hippies"? First time I've ever given a thumbs down, and I've been on KZbin for years. It was created by a wordsmith and someone comes along and thinks they can do better, second line of the chorus just sounds awkward now.

This song reminds me of a street performer that I happened upon in Canterbury. He was a juggler and a minstrel among other things. Simple, magic tricks. I said, sir, I congratulate you. Thank you for preserving this ancient tradition. I threw 5 pounds in coin into his cup, and went on my way to Saint Augustine’s Abbey. England. Everyone should visit England at least once in their lifetime.

@@annaA4453 Good ear! Gregorian chant was/is medieval Roman Catholic Church music...so it's no coincidence that this tune has the same sound. For a different listening experience try some Byzantine chant, the medieval church music of Eastern Orthodox Christianity - still widely used in many Orthodox parishes today.

As a youngster, I used to attend lots of burials. I can still recall the sound of the church bells tolling farther and farther away as the deceased were lifted from their homes in a black horse-drawn carriage and taken down the 'Street of Heroes' towards the cemetery. The sound of the wheels of the carriage rolling on the paved road along with the church bells, the chants of the priests and the trail of Wailers following their beloved in utter agony still haunt me after all these years. After the coffin was lowered into the grave and the priest gave them their last rites, it was always remarkable to count how many shovels of earth would it take for widowed women or daughters to jump in the grave(most of whom didn't make it past two) and the sight of men trying their best to suppress their emotions in order to be strong for the greater good of the family(most of whom failed miserably). Many years have passed since I've left my old village. After my mind was tainted by the sinister forces that have rewoven society it was your "Angels Are Weeping" that resonated within me with the importance of faith and fate. That beautiful song which reminded me that nihilism, hedonism and disguised malevolence will only serve to undo all that our forefathers have given their lives in hope of achieving. And now you've taken an otherwise sad folk song and have turned it into what can closely resemble a dirge. This brings back my old view on the importance of life, love, friendship, and family by recalling on one of the eeriest nightmares that haunted my mind. Bells faintly tolling from the far away church, the sound of approaching carriage wheels, the chants, the wailing... all stuck in my head as I'm standing on my knees, chained to the earth in front of the same old cemetery. The sun slowly making its way downwards casting faint rays my way. The sunset. Although so many people consider it to be romantic, it has haunted me all of my life causing me to drown in euphory and depression. The long shadows of the gravestones slowly creep my way, knowing me...calling me... Whenever I try to cast my vision away it's forcefully returned to the scenery. All I can do is carry my burden and wait for the night. The same mistress who's eternal beauty is enveloping me into her star draped hair and caressing my soul. I'm 19. Why are your songs making me question my life before it has even fully begun?

No use arguing who is the author of a piece of music.. Music is eternal and will come in many forms, just like life itself. And as with all music, some arrangements sound better than others for each person, because we all connect to music differently.
