It was indeed a very colourful affair but the atmosphere was what left an impression upon me. Something that didn’t make too much sense on a logical level was elevated by all the people on a common cause. Hope you are well, we can grab a coffee soon

My pleasure Marietta, yes, high end cameras are better in some situations but the places I tend to visit I just want point and shoot simplicity. I do understand photography but don’t want to be thing apertures and shutter speeds when I’m one handed going up a ladder. Thanks for your comment

Great video Karl I did that trail with my wife, but used the pick up trucks both ways. One of the best days of my life, and I’ve had many great days on my travels. Your video brought back great memories like seeing the bells and the red cloth area and then, that exciting ride down the mountain road.

The day I went to this beautiful site one of the vehicles unfortunately had a serious accident riding up the access road and turned over, one person died 😢. It’s much easier to take one of the trucks to the main first section, then the rest on foot which takes about 1 or 2 hours. I’am 71 and managed to get to the very top, it’s well worth doing but you must be fit!

It’s funny Jim, the atmosphere isn’t because you really believe in much of it, it’s just the ambience of the place and the feeling of everyone being on a common cause. I knew it would be crowded but it was better than I expected all the same

with one excetion. the lady in the chair being carried up the mountain. what was her story? the expression on her face suggested entitlement to be waited on. my first impression was she was too old and crippled to walk up.
@karlsthailand
@karlsthailand Жыл бұрын
There was definitely the feeling of being on a common cause. I’d been aware of this particular pilgrimage for a few years and wanted to vlog it last year but many people abandoned it that year because the entry requirements were just too stringent for people to be bothered with. It was back to normal this year. The lady being carried up seemed quite pleasant and didn’t mind the attention. People can be carried up for a price ( I never bothered asking how much). So it’s just a service people can pay for regardless of class.

Khao Khitchakut? Solemn? I found it quite uplifting to be honest, to see so many people making the effort to reach the top of the mountain even if I couldn’t quite work out by what process the place had come to be seen as being so special apart from it’s natural beauty. Thanks

I am a big fan of Thai nature but not the over commercialization of some sites and those announcements which run on a loop. Give me a quiet mountain trail any day. Still that forest of red flags would make a great photo opportunity.
