Jojo saying she wants kids so soon legitimately scares me. She comes across far too self-centred to take care of a kid. And after the abuse to children that she was implicit in and the abusers she surrounds herself with...please no. She doesn't realise all the grooming she went through, saying "me at 12 was different" is literally a groomed child response from being told they're "so mature". I think this is why she now comes across as a kid trying to sit at the adult table. I really hope she's in very good therapy

In the kindest way possible....I'm having a hard time supporting JoJo because of the *extreme vanity*. Comparing herself to Lady Gaga, who literally broke so many barriers for the queer community and faced extreme ridicule and backlash from society at large, who didn't really become famous until she'd already written, recorded, and produced an entire album....when JoJo released one song she didn't write or produce and is getting critiqued for saying things like "I want to create a new genre of music called gay pop" and then when being called out for that, saying "I didn't create it, but I'll be the Chief Marketing Officer" is absolutely WILD and RIDICULOUS.
@Rainbow_Warrior_Princess7 ай бұрын
"*extreme vanity*" Many singers and actors are vain and pretentious, whereas Jojo is instead more of an extrovert and addicted to attention which is also not unusual for celebrities, but what makes her special is not being afraid of being different, homosexual, cringy and weird and also not of negative feedback, as she is sadly used to be bullied and made fun of from a very young age being a child star and public figure.

She had to defend queerness against homophobes on Oprah just for saying she's gay out loud. Her sitcom was cancelled. She received death threats and took them with a grace. She turned around much of middle America years later through her talk show and love and humor. I will never ever ever forget the day that she announced the legalization of gay marriage in 2008. I was only 13 and didn't know I was gay but that day still makes me cry. She will forever hold my gratitude and a place in my gay heart for everything she means to me and queer history...

I watched to give Shan the view however in my personal opinion, this was an unproductive episode and Shan normally asks very good thought provoking questions that creates good conversations . This was a missed opportunity to ask questions that could have really changed the narrative around Jojo coming into young adulthood and how/why she’s looking to change the conversation regarding that, instead it was just a big ego boost . . I understand covering her coming out story but most if not all of the questions were things she discussed on Call Her Daddy or other interviews. Appreciate Shannon trying but just because she’s gay doesn’t mean we need to support what she does when there’s no clear vision. Jojo is an entertainer and knows how to put on a persona(this is not meant to be mean she literally stated this), that’s all she’s really shown. She’s still young so there’s hope for a change I just think Shannon missed the mark on this one.

I'm sad to see someone as seemingly wise as Shannon ignore Jojo's friendships with predators and her blatant disregard for queer history (especially queer music history). oh wow i thought the criticism of jojo siwa was just that she's out of touch and dismissive of the people who have been making queer pop music for decades, but now i'm learning about the abuse allegations, eesh. i listen to some lesbian podcasts that love her so i guess i've gotten a biased view prior to reading the comments (and as an alleged abuser, identifying with michael jackson's struggles publicly... a choice)

I feel like this was not the move girl. Jojo is friends with predators!! Despite being cringe- which is whatever but girl is literally friends with predators! Shannon…

This was a really in-depth conversation and I feel like they were able to open up about all things gay. Great hosting!

Never been a fan of Jojo, but wanted to learn a little more about her, So I listened. Still not “my cup of tea”. Seems child star to adulthood is still something very tricky to navigate. I tend to forget she’s only 20 years old. There’s still a lot growing left to do for her. Hope her journey only gets easier and brighter. Interesting guest Shannon, thanks for sharing. 😉

I’m wearing my Be Kind t-shirt today!! Yes yes Shannon, thank you. And I, for one, am psyched to be watching JoJo on here. Yay…two gay icons 😊😊

Shannon I love you and your podcast however I think a lot of the reason people don’t like JoJo has nothing to do with her being cringe. It has to do with the FACT she supports and is friends with abusers, she has continuously denied victims stories and she herself has partook in abuse of CHILDREN. Shan please just be aware of that none of us are particularly disliking her bc of her in general just certain behaviours. I’d love to be kind but I don’t think abusers and supporters of abuse deserve our kindness in all honesty.

It’s so cool you held a trial and were judge and jury at the same time.

Shan, it's so amazing how much of a safe space u have created for Jojo. Didn't expect the scenes which made me kinda teary-eyed as I felt so much sincerity. I've never seen her in this kind of light and it's been made possible because of how you did carry the flow of the conversation as the host. Kudos to the both of you! Love u!

Shannon, you are a prolific interviewer. You ask probing questions and listen. You know how to make your guest feel at ease. Thank you to both of you for being out and proud on this platform. If only you were there when I was duscovering myself back in the early 80s. Thanks for the beautiful tribute to Ellen. Jojo, young lady, there will be youth who will look to you and try to find themselves. I know nothing about you, except there will be somebody who needs to see and hear you so they can live their truths. To the haters. Go f*ck yourselves until you have walked in these lady shoes.

Aside for the whole Karma thing I think Jojo is an absolute legend Coming out with a very very young fandom with families they might be conservative or homophobic or both and I feel like she should be more appreciated because of that
