It's okay to tell your parents' story as long as everything is the truth. It's a story with a good lesson to learn. Your father was a cheater, a thief and a deadbeat! If he were not guilty of anything, your mother's words would have had no power to affect him. The fact that he and his affair wife have tried EVERYTHING and there's been no success means that HE IS GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY! Please DON'T break your mother's heart, because if not for her, you and your siblings would have had to survive the hard way. Your mom deserves all the love and respect from all of her children! She sacrificed everything so that you guys have a roof over your head, never go hungry or become orphaned. I wouldn’t even consider “him” father. He was NEVER a father for you guys. He is just a sperm donor! He got what he wanted. He obviously doesn’t care that you guys live or die when he left you guys and took all the life saving with him! Why are you even entertaining the thought of go visiting him! Hm. Ionno… I get that your Dad hurt your Mom and you, but I don’t think it’s right that your Mom gets to decide what kind of relationship you have with your Dad. Their relationship may have ended, but he is still your Dad. Your Mom chose her husband, but you didn’t get to choose your Dad. He’s definitely not Dad of the year, but it sounds like he’s trying to or at least tried to make amends. Whatever you decide, just make sure it’s a decision you can live with. You just don’t want to look back when he is gone and wonder “What if” … Maybe he wasn’t there for you, but maybe if you allowed him, he could love your kids, his grandchildren and give them the love he couldn’t give to you and your siblings. This is your Dad’s first time living too. Doesn’t he deserve another chance and chance to make things right?
