I've been listening to Karn Evil 9 thousands of times since 1973, and have been following Rachel's path for about ten years now, and I am always amazed how I couldn't tell the difference between her and Keith Emerson. Misi is a truly great player, but he has some slight differences in phrasing and else that give away it's not Emo playing the parts. With Rachel, it's mind boggling how she channels Keith's genuine musical persona. And this is also true for the Greg Lake guitar solo !!! Rachel is truly a uniquely gifted artist !

My very first concert was ELP during their first World Tour in 1974, I saw them at Yale Bowl, New Haven CT. BSS had just come out and they played most of the album, including KE91/2/3 (the finale). This is the equal to the studio version of all that.

I conservatively estimate that I have listened to ELP Brain Salad Surgery start to finish over 700 times and that album was one of my early influences. (Duh) I parlayed that interest into becoming a full time professional piano player/singer for over 40 years. This full rendition of Karn Evil 9 is nothing short of breathtaking. Rachel, you are amazing - I love it! With tears running down from my watering eyes I say this: So tragic about Keith but he lives on in you!!!! You keep him alive!!

To see and hear these two masterful keyboardists play this complex fugue......makes me wonder how Emerson could have possibly played this live solo. It was a long time ago and I recall being stunned hearing ELP live - in the round as I vaguely remember with a symphonic choir. Oh and the guitars are magnificent......and the drummer......omg the singer.. make that three keyboardists......mind blown

fantastic performance, such a masterpiece of modern classical music as only ELP could do it. it is a testiment to the musicanship of Keith Emerson when you realize that he played all those intricate parts himself, and your singer hit Greg Lakes vocals to perfection. The drum solo was equally mindblowing. thank you for keeping music real and not computerized or hipety hopety old folks like myself miss the progressive rock days Rachel you are a gift from God be blessed.

@@justsingit72 I've met the man they're singing about. I know, sounds weird, but I'm certain. His question to all of us one night before a 'guided flight' with him was "How many times have we been here before?" People don't really understand what Deja Vu really is. Many so-called 'brain scientists' have different theories, but this one (as said in a CSNY song) > "We have all been here before, we have all been here before" Deja Vu is a tiny snippet of ancient memory, slipping back in oh so momentarily, from the 'last' time we were here. That's why it feels so familiar, yet so strange. I am so looking forward to the BMB Smackdown. (Bezos, Musk & Branson) My take on an old movie line > "Rockets? Rockets!? We don't need no stinkin' rockets!!" Great rendition from all of you. Thanks so much.

wow. Rachel and team, this is really an incredible production you've created. I know this entire piece really, really well, and you completely and totally KILLED it. I was first introduced to ELP at about age 11 by a friend, and I listed to Welcome Back My Friends so many times that I had to replace the LP set at least once. I also used to secretly listen to it in my room on headphones, set up multiple serving trays of my mom's and empty buckets like a drumset, and actually air-guitared all of the 1st impression in front of my musicologist parents (CRINGE) who stared at me in abject horror LOL.

As I watched the video... I thought of 3 men writing and performing this song ( in a studio with overdubbed parts ) 😉😄

Just incredible! I've been listening to ELP since the '70s and watching every recorded performance I could (never got to see them live) but what was always missing was getting to see close-ups of all of the bits and pieces that make up this intricate composition. It could only be played by expert musicians. That's what we get to see in your collaboration with this excellent video montage. It's like a cross between a live performance and a behind-the-scenes studio session. I'm going to be watching this over and over.

I saw this live during their first tour with it. I was not familiar with ELP at all, except for "Lucky Man". The album was just coming out. I sat with my jaw dropped open for the entire performance. It was a life changing experience. Keith Emerson is the best technical rock keyboard player in history. Not even close. And a superb composer. Karn Evil 9 is his masterpiece. He did all this keyboard work alone on stage, with analog synthesizers, and tape machines looping his live riffs. He was a genius. Rachel Flowers is keeping him alive for all of us. Thank you Rachel!

Back in the 70s, when many kids were listening to disco or in the “KISS Army”, I was firmly and inextricably an ELP head, to the point that I wouldn’t listen to much else. I was fortunate enough to see them in concert several times during those years. This performance allows one to truly see and hear how incredibly talented this three man group was. It also displays the talent of the musicians in this collaboration. Thank you for such a spot-on representation of this fantastic piece.

Rachel and this band are amazing and have created a superlative video here! I was introduced to ELP by my eighth grade music teacher who played Pictures at an Exhibition to our class in 1972 or 1973. He had us compare it to the Ravel orchestral version. What a great way to introduce us to classical music, and progressive rock! Besides ELP, my friends and I went on to enjoy King Crimson, Triumvirate, Jethro Tull, Yes, Gentle Giant and a lot of other great bands. And to think a music teacher (at a Christian school, no less!) got the ball rolling for us!
