These attacks are happening even as the state is all set to introduce an Anti-Conversion Bill. Archbishop of Bengaluru Father Peter Machado in this conversation with TNM’s Dhanya Rajendran asks what is the need for such a law when the Constitution does not bar conversions. He also speaks about the Church’s stand against Muslim groups in Kerala, reservation for Dalit who convert and other topics.

Central govt provided AFSPA for Army cadre to deal unarmed north eastern Indians as per their wish. No action if killed innocent , unarmed civilians against murderers. Similarly government of Karnataka is going to a new law to target Christians and hence will not take action against culprits of BJPs youth wing RSS , bajrangdal people , those who carryout violence against Christians run schools , prayers under false alligations.

/no one forces for a conversion / -- No one forces. But they are certainly 'induced'. Induced (especially by the Catholic church) with hospitals, schools, etc with an 'ulterior motive'. The Parsis are the biggest philanthropic community who spend from their pocket without foreign exchange from Rome. How come no one converts to Zoroastrianism? Sam, if you are a Catholic priest and a Hindu/Muslim/Buddhist/etc comes to you to be a Christian, tell him/her that sorry there is truth in all religions. Stay true to your religion, I cannot help you to change yours. That should be the answer from the priest. 'Inducing' with showing schools, health care, scholarships is also 'forcing' people psychologically not physically.

If all catholic Christian institutions in blr induce people to Christianity then by now whoever studied/got treated etc would have been converted to Christians when they are done right? If a Hindu/muslim/ or any religion wants to come to Christianity, why would the priest oppose him/her coming in when it’s his/her own will? Of course the priest can question if that person is forcefully being converted or it’s according to his will. Every Roman Catholic is and will be against forceful conversion. Let the people who are into forceful conversions be behind bars. This all being done with the influence of Money and luring the weak minded.

@@nidhinolikara292 This notion of "induced" is fairly absurd. For one by that measure every "conversion" is "induced". This includes the Westerners who join Hindu Maths and Godmen. People converting do so because the new religion offers them something the old one didn't. Whether these needs are "spiritual" or "material" it is for the concerened to discern what is good for them and not third parties. If one doesn't like people moving away from their faith, then it is their duty to see to that the needs of such people are met which obviates the conditions favouring conversions themselves in the first place, not put a tyrannical stranglehold around them. As someone from a Catholic household who has seen my fair share of relatives slip into such Pentecostal "house churches" (Yes, they convert as much from other Christian sects too) something which I hear invariably from them is the sense of community and self-worth that such Churches provide. While I myself wouldn't convert to one such sect, I cannot fault someone who didn't feel at place inside my denomination moving to somewhere else where they feel more respected and loved. Secondly as others in the comments have pointed out a "conversion scare" being cast on each and every part of Christian existence is absurd. If only the whole machinery of Christians in India were so adept in cnverting then some of the most important leaders within Hindu parties itself wouldn't have emerged, themselves benefitting from the education in Christian institutions. Given the penetration rate of Christian institutions outside major metros if the conversion machinery is as widespread as is alleged then Christians will be a significant force not just some visible minority.

I converted from Hinduism to Catholicism and it was the best decision of my life. I was persecuted and mocked and I could not understand why. I suppose it makes people jealous if someone is free and acts freely. If you are born and die without learning, without freedom, without enjoying your freedom then it is a wasted life. Every man and woman should not only take the religion of his birth and blindly follow it but should be able to decide which religion he or she wants to follow. This freedom of choice should be taken by all individuals till they die. No religion, government or law should restrict an individuals freedom. A man is born free and should die free. A life without freedom suffocates you. I deeply respect Hindus and people of other religions. I read the Vedas, Upanishads,Baghvad Gita,Ramayana and I recited the prayers in Sanskrit everyday of my life. I discovered Catholicism in Munich and read the bible, went to bible classes, read Christian books, Martin Luther's King protestant movement, visited thousands of churches and felt at home in the catholic church. Luckily where I live freedom of religion is a basic human right. Moslems pray in their mosques, Hindus in their temples, Sikhs in their temples, Buddhists in their temples and it is absolutely normal to meet people of all religions and those without confession. My Buddhist neighbour is making classical Chinese/Vuetnamese/Thailandish dish for us at Xmas,halal because her brother in law is Muslim, my Sikh friend bringing me samoussas, my Christian neighbours give wine and chocolate,my Muslim friends bring me Persian/ Afghan dishes. It is normality and it is beautiful....

We must acknowledge the hindu contribution to our lexicon. Words like temple prostitution (devadasis), human sacrifice(kali puja), UN modern day slavery (hindu caste) and sati (women are papayoni in hinduism bg9:32). It is not important whose land it is, it is important to know who died for the forgiveness of your sins, the Passion, death n resurrection of Jesus redeemed us from the clutches of the evil one, which gives us freedom to enter heaven. It doesn't matter whether you are in the Indian land or foreign land, what matters is, are you in Christ who died for you, shed his blood on the cross for you, to obtain a place in heaven for you.

If you claim you love Jesus then follow Jesus; Look what Jesus said himself, John 5:30 ( Jesus said) " I do nothing by my own will " In this part of verse our beloved Prophet Jesus clearly said he does nothing on his own. Why ? Because he submitted his own will to some one superior to all. Who is that being? Jesus continue in same verse, " But by the will of who sent me " Now our beloved Prophet clearly said he even can not come without some ones will, and again who is that someone? That some one can not be Satan. That some one is our Creator, The God Almighty, God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed (peace and blessings on all of them). Jesus submitted his own will to the will of God Almighty, and this is is simple and basic definition of Islam. Person who submits own will to the will of God Almighty is called Muslim.
