The threat from Moslem, British and Dutch invaders is understandable. The threat from within, calling themselves as Indians and not following pluralistic religious faiths, is more serious and will damage our country. There is anecdote on Thomas Babington Macaulay. A British officer assigned to collect revenue from some districts of TamilNadu meets a rich landowner and was walking on the road. Both of them come across a Pandit well versed in Vedas and serving in a local temple. The rich landowner made namaskaram to the Pandit and sought his blessings. The British officer taken aback by this gesture asks the Landowner about this act. He replied that the britishers are to collect only the revenues which is willingly given. But the Pandit has superior knowledge about Vedas and God and should always be respected. Startled by this statement, the British officer writes to Macaulay, who seems to have said, that for Great Britain to flourish, the local knowledge must be eliminated and the Crown will take enough steps to do that. The East India Company did not encourage Christian Priests and Pastors to come to India to proselytize. But when the Crown took over, under the guise of research, many dubious characters came, like Dr. Caldwell and G.U.Pope, resulting in a spate of conversions. The Abhramaic Religions are welcome in India to co-exist and not to denigrate the Bharat.

A fully loaded Dutch fleet of ship had made an attempt to capture Kerala from the south. A local King called Marthanda Varma encountered the invaders and sunk their ship. That as how the Dutch failed to get a foothold in India.

I must admit that I didn't know the temple has been a victim of the Dutch loot. Thanks for bringing this to light 🌻

Guruvayur is so divine and pious place to worship Lord Krishna in his child form. Everyday devotees experience blessings of Lord Krishna in their everday lives in one way or the other. As a devotee who regularly visits the temple since childhood for last 58 years i can vouch the divinity of the place.

Tippu actually came to this temple to destroy it. But as soonas he put fire to the temple, heavy rain was poured and tippu waited but the rain didn't finish. And tippu vouched he would destroy the temple on his next arrival but he died in the war and the temple still stands and we call our dogs tippu. A perfect example of how the good will always prevail over evil.

Something you should know about the rituals in this temple . In the morning the deity is in his child Balgopal form with just his koupeenam , flute and butter in his hand . With every puja throughout the day they add alankars till in the noon the deity attains Mahavishnu’s form . If you spend a whole day in the temple you will see different attires on the deity . It is a blessed feeling if you can witness these rituals

@@jamesbond4045 yuo bro. Keralites are only people in india who spend crores for building houses. Plus they want to build house right infront of main road. If u compare other states people like to live away from main areas and towns to be in peace and i dont think any other state people spend or i would say waste so much money for house . There was a report that almost 10 lakhs or 10 million houses are empty or left with old parents as most of childrens are in gulf countries or eu or states.... there is pros and cons. But i love kerala its scenic beauty and food. If the govt really develop it it can be the venice of the south..
