We're in our deep 60's now. Reminds me so much of my wife and I when we were young in our 20's. And we still have fun, but just much slower and in a T5 VW kombi.

We watched this & I felt your goosebumps! We were married on Cable beach in 2009 & we lived there in the park for 5 years. We returned in 2019 for our 10th Anniversary & that excitement you felt was exactly what we felt. Special place !!! 💖🥂BROOME TIME! How blue is that water 💦

Fantastic instalment in your travel life story Karsten, Maxine and Zu-zu. You speak of what you couldn't afford in those days of travel in 2009. Feel blessed, today the lettuce that you were eating in 2009 can only be afforded by "the rich" in 2022 Maxie. It's always interesting to visit places from your past, it gives us the "perspective" of time.

Oh wow, similar to us. We did a lap in 2008. We did the whole trip in tents, packing/setting them up every night on a budget and also drooling over some of the stuff that we'd come back and do when we could afford it. So cool you got some video, we were completely focused on photos back then!

Wow what a fun trip down memory lane, but somehow it all looks the same too 🥰❤️😍. Thanks for a wonderful episode, I smiled the whole way through.

I'm likely to get into trouble with the stupid political correctness of today but ...... Broome/Derby; the birth-place of beautiful Australians (thinking women naturally :) ) with a gentle mix of Europeans, Asian, including Japanese, and the Australian dark skinned original people combined in the melting pot to make the ''perfect Aussie'' . I still remember the outstanding stunning beauty of one tallish girl; maybe 10-12 years of age with unkept wavy blond hair, dirty face and a complexion lighter than all around her on the alcohol free aboriginal station a bit south of Broome. Every time I unloaded their stores there I just wanted to take her out of "that life/that place" . Because of her tribal traditional beliefs was she not allow have eye contact or to look in my direction so all stayed as it should be . But I would loved to have taken a photo of her like Steve McCurry's Afghan girl with greens eyes on a 1985 National Geographic cover . Somehow they seem similar. 40 odd years on I often wonder how life played out for her. Back then the Port Hedland - Broome road was still mostly dirt . Sorry; I have often thought of it but that's the first time I have written that story but I bet you have another look at the outside of the people of that area.
