Yes, I am a Kannada movie audience, and yes, I am reluctant to watch Kannada movies in the theatre. It's true! The thing is, Kannada movies have lost their credibility, and yes, we need a lot of convincing to come to the theatre. I watched the *Powder* movie trailer, and it's amazing! 🔥 As a young adult, I would love to watch that movie. But will I go to the theatre on the first day? The answer is a big NO! Unless it opens to very good reviews from everyone, I won't go. Will I watch it on OTT? The answer is a big YES because I liked the trailer, and regardless of reviews or anything else, I'll watch it! And note: I'm a movie fanatic. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have bothered to watch this interview or comment on it. Here’s why I feel this way: Last time, I saw the *Bachelor Party* trailer. I loved it, and since it was from Paramvah Studios, I was confident the movie would be good. So, I traveled 10 km to the multiplex on the first day, spending ₹240 on a movie ticket and ₹80 on parking. But the movie was a big headache! The trailer was so good, but the movie was a huge disappointment. I felt all the effort and money I put into watching it in the theatre got wasted. Trust me, after putting in all this effort and money, watching these kinds of movies in the theatre is not just a waste-it's a *traumatic experience*, which we don't want to go through again and again. And that's why I'm reluctant to go to the theatre. This kind of incident has happened with many Kannada movies, not just *Bachelor Party*. I used it as an example because *Powder* seems to cater to a similar audience. Because of experiences like this, many production houses are slowly losing their credibility. In a year, if I've watched 20 Kannada movies in theatres, hardly 2-3 have satisfied me. For these reasons, I would prefer not to go to the theatre for Kannada movies. The sad part is, I feel bad when I miss out on movies like *Shakahari* in the theatre. So, I’m happy to watch *Powder* on OTT unless it opens to exceptionally good reviews from everyone. (This is just my opinion and that of my close friends, who are also movie fanatics.)

On point.. Ppl like dhananjay should just stop acting or producing all the movies just for the sake of business.. Our issue is that too many movies are releasing and hardly one or two movies are making a mark.. (Shaakahaari and blink) recent times.. Actors should really grow up and start concentrating on scrip selections.. In a recent interview I saw actors like sudeep making a statement that this movie is purely made for his fans.. So other actor fans shouldn't watch this movie?? Then why is he releasing Max in all languages??? I just can't understand.. And I am. Big fan of sudeep disappointments such statements.. I just took example of few actors here.. Nothing shooting on them directly.. Instead of releasing so many movies in a year please release less movies and make them hit.. Ppl will always make kannada movies a big blockbuster if the content is good and the subject chosen is universal!!

One point to standout :- With respect to Karthik In 2024 there are elections,ipl,and many stars are busy in shooting none of their movie is ready.. I will tell you in cricketing terminology If you taken defensive approach by not releasing good films during the ipl period How you define that ? If people want to come theatres good movie has been released in ipl period with good promotions And that is called aggressive approach Today marketing of the film is most important Traditional method of promotion will not work 1. Your content and movie should be good 2.word of mouth will automatically shown 3.Cinema team should do promotions for first 3 days of theatrical release Tell me one good movie released in ipl period .. Remember:-Ipl matches affect only night shows not during daytime

19:32 Because we have grown up watching Puttana Kangal, Dr.Raj, Shankar Nag, Ananth Nag, Vishuvardhan, Uppi's etc movies, standards they have set are really high, it's not easy to convince Kannada audience like Karthik said. Also other language movies had some audience in Karnataka even before pan India phenomenon. One more major reason is movie ticket prices are way too expensive comparitively.

I am from Bengaluru Basavangudi.I know Kannada and English only like me so many people are there in Bengaluru.. 4. All Kannadigas are not have the necessity or quickly to learn all languages unlike other cities Chennai Hyderabad etc.. 5. Bengaluru has about 70-75% Kannadigas . Others have a huge floating population they come for job and earn money in Bengaluru then go to their native place. Some settle down here and learn kannada language. Kannada audience throngs the theatres mainly through word-of-mouth. Apart from the staunch fans it’s the regular people (who are not dedicated to one hero) who make movies a runaway success. Popular critics like Anupama and BR are comparatively very new to the Kannada audience and only the tech savvy new gen would watch their interviews. They certainly add to the much needed publicity for marketing Kannada films on the digital platforms and ‘are not’ the deciding factor for one to go watch a film in the theatres. Had it been the case, Kantara wouldn’t be the phenomenon that it is coz BR had given poor ratings to the film.

The reason BR's opinions are important to the Kannada audience is because we’ve been cheated enough by our own people into spending on movies that were shite, to say the least. If BR and other reviewers starts wrongly praising them.... ... we'll simply give up i guess. Truth be told, there are good makers in Kannada, many newcomers with varied voices, but no one is betting on them or even bothering to nurture them. Everyone is in the game of making money now and exiting. And in this game, they shell out crazy money on people whom everyone knows, make shite films. The same old boring template that is already available in other languages, with a fancy make-up. No one really cares to build a production house or brand with credibility; no one thinks of compounding rewards. Everyone speaks at length about their "love" of cinema in interviews, but speak to them otherwise, and you realize that they only care for quick money. And this quick-money attitude has kept them attached to the same old shite template of a movie. The only way to succeed in the Kannada industry is to make your own film and win in it all by yourself-write it, fund it, shoot it, sell it, and make profits. If you manage to do it all by yourself, then these people care to listen to those makers. Take any popular filmmaker or actor in the industry now. No one cared to support Rakshit, Rishab, Raj, or Dhananjay. No one cared to help Hemanth, Pawan, Suni, or Suri until they had to beg, borrow, steal, and win on their own. Prashant Neel had access to known names, and yet it took him a decade. Unfortunately, not all talented people grow up with that kind of money. If 'Blink' and 'Shakahari' were truly supported by these people, then they would have gone big-why not? Now, because they were not, these makers will have to continue their struggle, make another film all by themselves, mint great money through it, and time and again prove themselves to be worthy of a decent budget to make a good movie. And it will take them another decade-plus to be the next Rishab or Pawan, struggling day in and day out. The plight of a female actor or director, to one day be a star like those from other industries, is next to impossible. There cannot be an Alia, Deepika, Nitya, Samantha, or Tamanna from Kannada. Just not possible. They acknowledge that the Kannada audience has changed, but they don’t know what that change is. So they continue to make the same 3rd-grade movies that are bound to bomb at the theatres, and then they blame us for not turning up in theatres. Why should I spend my money to watch some dude swinging guns and machetes throughout the movie without a good story to it? We need an A24 to revive Kannada cinema to Dr. Raj's glory days. What we have is... well... the 'pan-world' monstrosity. Audience have moved away from the stars, its time industry understands that. If they expect us to go to big screens, just to watch Sudeep, or Druva Sarja or Dhanajay.. then they are dreaming. (and those that do go to watch them are under 20-40k people in Karnataka.) We want an Aavesham or Premalu or Munjya... if you pump us with rehashed KGF day in day out, then you are on your own.

Here we go another guy blaming audience for not being fanatic enough ,using excuse of ipl and umpteen other distractions The debate shouldn't even be about good films . The debate should be about footfalls .How many directors / producers / writers does Kannada industry have to make films enabling consistent footfalls throughout the year .if you are not able to achieve that blaming other distractions is waste Audience in Telugu /Tamil is 'fanatic' because they have been spoilt by consistent movies attracting footfalls .One can tax other language movies as much as they want or even allocate one week for Kannada but if production is not good enough nothing will change The pseudo intellectuals need to understand it's the mass movies which enable audience for so called intellectual Oscar worthy movies . Issue with kannada (from rice eating mallu) - 1. Mafia at play - no lyricist, script, music directors. Why no yesudas, chitra in kannada ? Mafia conttolls what to show, sell to media. Hence National award actor cries his film is rejected by OTT while dud films of mafia is mandatorily shown in tv, ott (sheroli taney) ? 3. Education - average kannadiga lqcks exposure. He hasnt seen roja, kaalapani. So no wonder he will always cry for 70s film stars (sheri taney) ? Mass vs Good film fans - educated fans watch and support standard kannada films (side a,b). But 60pc are uneducated. Hence onky want mithun chakravarthy type films. Sheri taney ?? Kodi like. So stop pretending. Accept truth .
