As someone who is planning on buying a Kart and starting karting in the coming year, the KZbin algorithm has blessed me with this channel!

Another great channel if you’re getting into karting is power republic. He does a lot of good videos on kart set up and the fundamentals. Good luck on your karting journey mate 👍

Probably one of the best videos I’ve seen so far. I would like to add some clarifications to the front end and axels. I’ve yet to see anyone point out that the front is actually primarily an Ackerman change due to the relationship to the steering shaft mount points; your generalizations could be wrong on chassis’s with oppositely oriented tie rods such as a coyote zenith. As for axels. Falling on either end on axel stiffness ranges can manifest in similar complaints from the driver. I’m actually dealing with that right now going back and forth from incredibly hard tires to soft ones. Too soft of an axel can be characterized as loose once it’s loaded because of it’s inability to relieve sufficient pressure from the inside tire and dragging causing excessive inside edge tire wear. It feels like it loads up and kind of springboards off. Too stiff can be characterized by insufficient flex excessive side bite and can feel like there’s little transition between sitting flat and aggressive lifting and or sliding with excessive wear on outside tire edges.

the thing I find funny about front ride height is that every person I listen to/talk to tell me a different thing. so far you and other 2 people said that increasing front ride height gives more turn in and other people I've talked to say that it gives less turn in. it's cursed lol. great video

Wow.....excellent, so informative. The hardest pill to swallow is assessing yourself as a driver....whether you are fast or a mid pack guy you said a mouthful in the beginning of the vid.

This such a practical guide which prioritises the various adjustments and where to start. You are a great teacher.
@anthonyharwin79373 жыл бұрын
Biggest advantage a big team has is that they have worked out the tire pressures and gear ratio by the end of the 2nd practice session whereas a privateer needs 4 or 5 sessions to do that. That results in them getting up to speed quicker and able to test different lines and approaches to corners much sooner than a privateer. Great video!

Incredible guide! I really hope you do more of this going a bit more in depth. I like how you mentioned in some of the parts adjusting things a certain way based on a drivers height. Looking forward to more videos from you!

thanks for this excellent explanation. It was the first video I found about a year ago when looking into chassis set-up and to me the best by far. It has helped me heaps!

Hi Rick, thanks. Are you talking about Ackermann or steering rate? I only ask because these two terms get incorrectly swapped around a lot, and Ackermann settings are almost never changed on modern karts. Vroom had a great article some years back that broke down Ackermann and it's effects well: www.vroomkart.com/news/28965/ackermanns-angles#:~:text=EFFECT%20OF%20ACKERMANN%20IN%20CORNERS&text=You%20get%20the%20same%20effect,and%20less%20speed%20along%20straights. Steering rate can be changed per driver preference by changing tie-rod attachment points on the steering shaft. Some drivers with quick hands may prefer a slower steering rate to keep the kart more controllable and less twitchy. Drivers who are smoother and slower on the wheel might require a faster steering rate to get the kart working with less inputs.

@@KorsasportKartingDevelopment I was talking about Ackermann. There are 3 holes where the tie rods attach to spindles. I will watch the video you referenced. Thank you. Rick

Thanks for the great and comprehensible info! Could you maybe point me in the direction of a baseline setup. Got an older Tony Krypton, from around '08. It has the older 17mm front hubs and stub axles, so kinda clueless to what the base setup is on that.

You should make one on doing tire pressure on diffrent track conditions
@KorsasportKartingDevelopment3 жыл бұрын
I purposely left tire pressure out of this one, because it can be pretty varied depending on track conditions and what tire you're using, but I plan on doing a video solely on tires in the future!

Hi, some texts on your PPT are hidden by your camera video. Is there a pdf or ppt file to read? And could you explain more about the physics of Front Ride Height? I'm confused why raising the front ride height provides more pushing into the track.

I have been racing karts all my life...like a nut bag .. and I can tell you once you start Racing open outlaw karts on dirt track then you can do more racing have more fun and do less tuning and have more fun racing etc and it's maybe just maybe cheaper in certain aspects . Outlaw karts all day 💪🤠
@KorsasportKartingDevelopment2 жыл бұрын
Would love to drive an outlaw kart someday! I did one dirt race and it was a blast, but a completely different world. For some of us, tuning is half the fun!
