At club level are you doing full pound changes, or going half or quarter (I got one of dem Longacre digital thingys)? Interestingly, I've been told not to stagger the pressures side to side which I never understood. I'll be doing that next time :)
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 2 жыл бұрын
We use full pound for the newer guys. So they can feel some difference and teach them. The better the driver , the smaller the change. It is a little driver specific. But there is normally one tyre that does more work on a given direction or track layout. That when we will let out some more air in that specific tyre to avoid over heating.

@@PowerRepublic. Let me get this straight, when it’s raining and your chance of aquaplaning has significantly increased, you increase the tyre pressure which therefore decreases the tyres footprint on the tarmac which in turn decreases the tyres traction capabilities greater still?

I am running some evinco blue tires, I usually put them at 10 psi and they come back at like 13 but I only get a couple of laps before I start losing grip, should I increase my pressures?
@hutking3508
@hutking3508 Ай бұрын
Increasing or decreasing pressure is really just an experiment, with lower pressures, if i for example start with 0,9 on my lecont tyres (JR 125 tonykart) i find that the slow corners give me low grip and slide, but fast corners are really good, and if i start with 0.8 i get additionally more grip every slow corner, but less grip in the fast ones. You shouldm experiment with tyre pressure on each compound, what i like to do is take a notebook with me, and write down each lap time, each pro and con on each pressure, and find out what im fastest with and whatnot. so just experiment with tyre pressure, no real answer for your question, hope this helps:)

Hey Ant, thanks for tuning in. gerneally for super hot conditions we use lower air pressures by 1-2psi start pressures. also too Magnesium wheels like the MXC helps in hot conditions. Very nice video! I have some questions. I'm from Romania and I would like to enter the world of racing because I love it, but I don't know very well details about karts, I would need some advice, what kind of kart to buy, I heard about Tony Kart being one of the better and I can start individually, in the sense that I buy a kart and I bought my wheels and a trailer and everything I need, I can go to register for the competition or I must find a club and I register with him and I assume that the sponsors will come when I start to compete, I need a little help from you to answer these questions if you can, because that is my passion and I would really like to enter in the world of racing. Thank you
@PowerRepublic

Hey mate, welcome. If you want to start racing, google search kart club closest to you. then visit the club and check out the guys there and what classes they are racing as you don't want to turn up with the wrong gear and have no one to race. Tony Kart are excellent and there should be a dealer close to you. Otherwise you might have to get another brand, but don't let that stop you starting. When new to racing, probably start with a second hand kart.

@@guntergunter1488 This video just have a LOT of psi numbers to convert. (and unlike kPa bar, it is not just a decimal shift) In South Africa measuring is mostly done in kPA (occasionally in bar), but people mostly talk in bar. ("3 bar" is much more convenient than "300 kPa") (AFAIK, kW is not used for engine power in DE as well, which is a bit strange) (The only place I use horsepower is for the kart we have, where, for some reason, the max engine output is specified as 24HP, checked by dyno...)
