Interesting fact the actor “Dotsy” (the captain who resigned) played Lieutenant Kennedy in Hornblower and the same thing happened. An inquiry was launched into accusations of mutiny and how the ships captain fell into the hold and was incapacitated. His character in hornblower offered himself up as a sacrificial lamb too

When an officer is not wearing Headress, normally a beret although more formal wear Like No 1s may be worn like a cap. You still do not salute although depending on the situation you can be brought to attention as in a troop is at ease and an officer walks past the corporal or sergeant will bring the troop to attention and salute himself while the troop is stood at attention as a mark of respect for his rank. Royal regiment of Fusiliers.

When they saluted the new captain, this show lost credibility. SAS men do not salute officers. As far as I know, the SAS only salute soldiers who have won Britain's highest medal of valour, the Victoria Cross. They will OCCASIONALLY salute an officer depending on circumstance. That officer would have earned it.

Why would they wait to identify themselves during the firefight, why not during the knife fight, surely. However, they should not have been there anyway. On entering the harbour the vessel would have been boarded by Customs, and Immigration as normal, they in turn would have seen the condition of the vessel, crap, inform the MSA,Marine Safety Agency and they would have had it inspected and probably impounded. The crews passports would have been checked against the ships crew manifest, crew sign on a ship, the extras,French Soldiers would have stood out as being extras, should not be there. At that stage they would have identify themselves, and the situation would not have happened. In other words,it would not have happened, but ok for light entertainment.

@@manticore4952 The Brit guys during the knife fight were in wet suits, rather obvious they were military,so,the French guy should have and probably would have identified himself .However as I said the situation would not have arisen as customs and immigration would have been on the vessel to ask why they were there, ships do not just turn up in Port do repairs then go again. The customs would have spotted several odd things, plus the condition of the vessel,it would have been impounded in a real situation, they wowuld have eventually asked to see the crews certificates etc. So,the situation would not have been there in the first place, but I understand its only cheap entertainment where the viewer is not supposed to think for themselves, just accept the storyline, fun all the same.Ross Kemp as a super fit SAS guy,now that is a good laugh, but I do admire his documentries ,they ARE good, but this is bum paper.
