to ryudooo : there is actually 5 final bosses that fights you in the Gradius series which are : 1- Gofer in Gradius II NES . 2- Gofer in Nemesis 3 the eve of destruction MSX . 3- DR.Venom in Nemesis 2 MSX . 4- Zelos true form in Gradius Gaiden using 2 bosses ( intruder & brain Golem ) 5- Bacterian in Gradius III SNES .

Actually, the final boss of Gaiden is an unknown entity called OVUM, which surprisingly enough stands for Original Visions of the Ultimate Monsters. This means that OVUM is a shapeshifter, taking on the forms of bosses from older games.

@@jahmirwhite7807 Thanks for correcting a 14 year old comment which i didn't knew that i kept that outdated wrong information for 14 years 🤣 Yes it is OVUM - i already knew about it lately - you're lucky on surfing through the comment board to dig up this faulty ancient comment 😅 Also let me add more info about OVUM - it is using an already existing ability from the bacterions which they're also able to shapeshift. The bacterion ability of shape shifting was already explained in Salamander OVA.

@@jahmirwhite7807 Thanks for correcting an outdated 14 year old comment which i never knew it existing until now 😅 Yes it is OVUM with the ability of shapeshifting which is already within the Bacterions arsenal when consuming planets. You can already see it in Gradius IV intro and it is already explained in Salamander OVA. I've already dug deeper into the lore on the last 5 years or so, and this is good to fix older comments from my side 😅

Watching this video makes my head hurt so much. I was bombarded with so much awesome. Well think about it. If the bosses were THAT crazy on loop ten ... just think about how hard the damn levels must be on loop ten. I've had trouble beating this game on freakin normal! Props to the OP of the vid. The final boss must be the easiest end-of-game boss ever... and the brain is always the last boss in every Gradius game. It's actually a welcome relief to get such a relaxing finish if you get through the absoultely hardcore action beforehand!

Boss timeline: *Bacterion was the boss in G1 and 3. *Gofer was in G2 and Nemesis 3. A fragment of him evolves into Gaia in G4. *The Zelos are a separate faction of enemies in Salamander 1 and 2. *Dr. Venom was the chief villain of the Nemesis series (including Gradius ReBirth, which is a ret-con of Nemesis 1). He tried to use time travel to kill the original Vic Viper pilot (of G1) in infancy, but escaped in the end. He now seems to have evolved into a Bacterion-like being in G5.

Actually, the final boss of Gradius 1 is called Xaerous Brain. Emperor Bacterion only appeared in Gradius 3, considering he's the true leader of the Bacterian army. A piece of Gofer lands on a distant planet, transforming it into a battleship in Gradius 4. The Zelos Force only refers to those giant floating red eyeball things in Salamander 1 and a few other games. The final boss of Salamander 2 is called Doom (that giant three-headed monster), and he is rare for a final boss in that he actually fights back. Idk about ReBirth being a retcon/reboot of Nemesis (which is basically a port of Gradius 1). That game still takes place a few years after Gradius 1 and 2, and it sets the tone for the Nemesis series. The thing that always baffled me is how and why Venom got turned into a cyber brain in Gradius 5. The game never even bothers to explain why, but this is Gradius we're talking about.

The Final Boss is a piece of another brain called Venom. I think Venom appeared in Gradius 2. So everytime you beat a Gradius game you kill a brain, and if a piece of that cell survives, it will regenerate until another brain is made. So, there must be another Gradius that pieces of old cell brains survived, like Zelos. But, if you play Gradius Gaiden, the last boss appears like the ball Zelos was hidden in Gradius 1 for NES.

The Final Boss is Bacterion. Just like EVERY other Final Boss in the Gradius Universe (Save for Gradius Gaiden...that boss ACTUALLY attacks you), they never hit you and they die just by seeing you. Never the less, Gradius was a childhood favorite of mine. Still is. It took me a year to find this game. I found it on chance at gamestop used for $15...last copy too. So I snatched it. Let's all hope for more Gradius in the future! LET'S HOPE FOR GRADIUS VI!!!!

WOW just WOW. Thats an amazing video. I didn't think it was humannly possible to do some of the stuff you did. This game on normal mode was incredibly hard for me. I had to get free play to beat the game. Is there a way to get rid of free play after 20 hours? Its really boring to play with free play. But i want the continues.

the plane has a small hit box (probably about a pixel big) which is the cockpit so the rest can get hit by shots.

I thought the final boss' name was always Bacterion? On a related note, wow. This is the easiest final boss yet - it doesn't even try to fight. He delivers a speech you can't stop, AND THEN HE INSTANTLY DIES UPON FINISHING.

Hmmm. Okay maybe you're right about it being Venom. I think I got names mixed up. But I don't believe the MSX games are considered canon to the timeline since they differ greatly between each other. I've also never really played the MSX versions.

the konami code only provides 1 speed up, 4 options, missile, laser/double and force field, unlike R-type final which makes you invincible... But the hitbox in this game is so small that sometimes, even you would be surprised on how much you can dodge. Then again, it's still easy to die in this game...

@ichigo3223 Gofer was the final boss of Gradius 2 and Gradius 4 Venom comes from MSX Gradius 2 and Gradius 5. Bacterion Gofer Venom Are all cyber brains Bacterion couldn't split like Gofer and Venom which Gofer has two human spawns Gofer sisters in Otomedius. Zelos Force is different it is just a planet eater. Each time Gofer or Venom is destroyed peices are scatered across the universe and one will evolve again mustly Gofer Venom was a humanoid Green monster at first he is a traitor.

@EricPR239 4 is mighty harder than 5 in 4 you really can't get past loop 3 final stage without being a true gradius god because its pretty much imposible. Trust me. But Gradius 3 arcade original is super hard and unfair think of playing that game on high loops.
