Indeed I have bees using the Kase Wolverine filters for more than 2 years now and they are excellent! Since 2018 I use the slightly lighter slim version and having dropped by accident once or twice one of them on the rocks on Arctic Norway they are solid ! No scratch this year :!)

Honestly, as I'm using Black and White or Kodak Ektar for film I've stopped using filters altogether sans a polariser. Same for digital setup. Their new magnetic line looks interesting but for landscape work I'm not looking at saving few seconds to setup. Do these filters anything superior over the screw in?

@@Alister_Benn A foam seal to stop light leaks with a 10 stop filter. Lee filters have them on the filter itself.

Hi Alister: I am currently assessing my requirements for filters so I was very happy to see this video. I currently use Lee Filters (Big Stopper and .9 Graduated ND filter). While I am generally happy with them, I want to make sure I am not overlooking better products. Are you still using Kase filters and approximately what percentage of time do you employment filters in your creating images? Keep safe! Cheers, Keith

Hi Keith. I’ll break my no commenting rule for this one :-) yes, I still use Kase and am still extremely pleased with them. They’re bomb proof, colour excellent and have never let me down. When in the field I use them every day, as the built in CPL is excellent. I use the 6 & 10 stops for longer exposures and particularly the three stop reverse grad for controlling skies. I highly recommend them.

Some professionals advocate not using filters at all because they reduce image quality and virtual filters replace them in post. However, there are exceptions such as polarizing filters and big stoppers. I’m sure you have views on this topic which I’d be interested to hear?

I can understand the argument against graduated filets, given that dynamic range of sensors is now vastly improved, but blending multiple exposures well is still a big learning curve: I will do a video on how to process single exposures and to remove the effects of a grad where we don’t want darkening like on mountains or sea stacks. With regards to ND FILTERS or Polarisers, then yes, we absolutely need to use them in the field as we cannot replicate those effects in post. Thanks for your comment
