Well, Eminem hasn’t really put his stamp of approval on this cover, Eminem’s record company gave Kasey the go ahead to record and stream. 2 years later and still no personal response from Em as to his own feelings on it. 🤷🏻♀️🙄. Kasey made this her own and I love it! 🥰

its not Eminem pain shes channeling its her own, shes had a rough time in life, her first solo album was mostly ignored, buy aussie radio and media in response to that she wrote a song called "am i not pretty enough, in her 30s she suffered from a eating disorder, had to have a surgery on her vocal cords a few years ago, she couldn't make any sound for 2 weeks after the opp the whole time not knowing if she would be able to sing again, failed marriage and divorce in 2013, all these things she got past and they made her stronger

Saeed my friend 🥰 how on earth have I missed this 🤦♀️🤯 I was just about to buy you a coffee & request this song and thought I’d just check….and what do you know, you’d already reacted to it. Raw unadulterated Brilliance! I was totally blown away when I first “experienced” this Phenomenal performance, amazing arrangement & pure to the emotional interpretation of Em’s masterpiece - just legendary!! Em (or those who own the song rights) gave her permission to release on Spotify and to me, that says it all 👏👏👏 She is aged 46 at the time of this performance 2022. I’ve always been a fan of Kasey, she is a freakin amazing & talented musician, artist & woman. But this was next level genius & so personal for her. She has lived every second of this story. The performance wasn’t filmed, she put a post out after the show to fans present to please send in any footage, the compilation of which you see. The band killed it, matching & building with her energy brilliantly. Long time band member Brandon (I think 🤔) on guitar & the vocals that nurtured the momentum & her dad on slide guitar making it sing like a phoenix - all of them together made this one of the all time best live, for me a rebirth, not a cover, that I’ve ever heard, seen & felt….to my core. Top reaction as always, thank you for showing our fab Kasey some love & respect 👏🙏❤️

The family band was called The Dead Ringer Band, mum Diane, dad Bill, brother Nash and Kasey. She has been in the biz since a teenager. Her last tour around Australia was a "no fly" tour, just a big ugly yanky ute and a thumping great big 4WD caravan, driving from town to town play the gig, camp out down by a river or somewhere similar, with a nice view. They played in some places with a population you can fit into a minibus, that never get live entertainment plus the bonus of seeing our beautiful, wide brown, sunburned country... @@SaeedReacts.I was there the first time she performed aint no little girl live. It was an intimate gig with only about 20 people there. I wasn't a huge fan until I heard her sing live, it only took 5 words and I was convinced. Kasey is the real deal.
@alphaomega21179 ай бұрын
It's so well constructed. She's listened to the lyrics and understood the emotions behind it. The first part is fear and fragility, then frustration and a jaded sense of failure before unleasing rage and determination. Rap doesn't lend itself to conveying subtle emotion but it was always there in the lyrices people just didn't quite hear it and instead got hyped from the driving cadence of his version. I'm sure he would be happy that someone brought out the depth of his lyrics that in a way his style never really could. If there was ever any doubt about his credentials as a songwriter this version puts paid to that.

After much demand from fans to release the live performance and noting so many cameras in the air, Kasey asked fans to send through any footage they had filmed. This was recorded at the last Australian show of Kasey’s Behind the Barricades tour, which had been postponed from 2021 due to COVID restrictions. The tour was to celebrate 20 years since the release of her acclaimed Barricades and Brickwalls album in 2001. I believe Lose Yourself was one of her encore songs consistently on this tour (it certainly was played in Canberra) and Kasey and her people decided to record it in Newcastle. I understand the audience was told in advance it was going to be recorded. Kasey put the call out on social media for fans’ footage of the song to mix in with the footage that had been taken (most of the black and white stuff). Her dad, Bill Chambers, is on the slide guitar, and Brandon Dodd on lead guitar.

Eminem's rap approach is more reactive, while Kasey's version is more emotive. It starts of a bit country, then it sounds a bit blue/soul and finally it goes to rock; this performance is referred to as a Rock-Ballad mixing country, blues and rock to create a distinctive song. Such is the level of Kasey's performance, that she was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right.

@@SaeedReacts. The reason I asked is because I saw another youtube reaction video a few weeks ago with a similar sound issue. He had his sound set up to soft mute the music when he spoke to make a brief comment, after which the music volume would gradually increase to normal sound level, after about 5 seconds. I pointed it out to the person doing the reaction, and he said something about a compressor that he was using was set too high, and that he had fixed it since. So it occurred to me you might be having a similar issue. Thanks for the reaction to the Kasey Chambers cover, I just found it myself a couple weeks ago, and have watched many reactions to it since. People are always surprised at how much she made it her own, and how different it is from the original, so that makes it interesting to see people react to it. Rap isn't my music genre (I mostly listen to 1960s and 1970s classic rock and associated blues, folk, R&B, soul, etc.), so I was not familiar with the original, but I really like it, and her performance is amazing.
