glad you enjoyed this great cover, yes she is australian and one of our biggest country stars, she started as a teenager in her family's band, the dead ringer band, since going solo in the late nineties she has dozens of awards in oz, and 5 of her albums have gone to number one on the overall not country chart, an australian music hall of fame member, first suggestion for another reaction would be ain't no little girl, several clips of this on youtube all are great

Kasey Chambers was raised in the Australian outback. Her father was a rabbit shooter and the family lived on the road for long periods. As mentioned the family band the dead ringer band was well received. Kasey has always been an Australian icon.

Kasey worked with her brother in lockdown during covid for a national Australian radio show called Like a version where artists go into the studio to do a cover and flip it and make it their own. This was performed at the last show of her first tour after covid by request of the crowd and filmed on their phones. Eminem endorsed it by adding it to his own Spotify playlist.......bless!

To most of us in Oz, who arent Country Music fans , the first we heard of Kasey Chanbers was " Am i not pretty enough ? " . She's the real deal . Another great cover from Australia is Spiderbait perform " Black Betty " . Big call but its better than the original.

Spiderbait and Black Betty ? What about Cold Chisels live cover of Wild Thing. Jimmy and Johns cover of When Something Is Wrong With My Baby by Sam n Dave. Johns covers of Help by the Beatles, A Long Way To The Top by AC/DC , Black Dog by Led Zepplin and many more. Even Johnny O' Keefes cover of SHOUT !!! from about the late 1950's or early 1960's......not to mention the many international covers of his own Wild One. lol

Kasey presented this performance as her life in song - as a journey. It starts with the soft plead of uncertainty highlighting a lack of confidence. Then the mood all changed to a cry of anguish and determination. Finally, after all the hard work comes tremendous acclamation and success. She lost herself and left her soul on stage, laid bare and battered. Unbelievable and brilliant. This was a deconstruction of Eminem's incredible artistry reassembled and made better.

This is a story teller performance for sure, em may have written it & rapped it but Kasey lived it, she made it her & every performance artists song. With em you felt the angst but Kasey bought out the heartache, the drive, the fight, the deep emotion, the full story. We are proud of our Aussie sister.

Kasey was actually my very first live concert as a lad in Aus. 2002-3 and she was already massive here, I’ve seen her at least five times in the years since, and she’s probably the reason I kept a strong folk/country core in my music despite metal being more my wheelhouse! Love her

The crowd new it was Eminem but they were gobsmacked by the performance - the way she took it and made it her own. Kasey may be country but she likes to wander into other genres occasionally. She is a big fan of Eminem and has always wanted to do a cover of this song but wanted to do it justice. The Covid lockdown, her in Australia, gave her the chance. She couldn't tour so she took the time to rework the song, changing the musical style while honouring the lyrics. Glad you enjoyed it so much.

Nah we don’t beef with NZ except the way siblings do 😂 Kasey was the youngest female artist inducted into ARIA hall of fame (Australian record industry) she’s been on stage since she was 10 (now in late 40’s) with her family’s band The Dead Ringer Band, she wrote music for them when she got older, then as a teenager went out on her own. Her first album “The Captain” was critically acclaimed but radio stations wouldn’t play it so she wrote a song called “Pretty Enough” which is an f u to the radio stations, also I think why she can sing this song with such emotion. There’s an album, one of my personal favs, she does with her ex husband Shane called “Rattling Bones” most songs on that are worth a listen. “Ain’t no Little Girl” may or may not be about her ex & it’s a fantastic song, I prefer the official music video version of it but most of her stuff is as good or better live (some prefer the live)

Kasey Chambers rarely does any covers. She is a brilliant singer songwriter, so she only does covers of songs that deeply touch her, and,as you can see,and hear, she makes them her own.

Kasey's version of Lose Yourself is described as a Rock-Ballad. She is an Australian country music singer-songwriter. Her song Not Pretty Enough is a commentary on the reluctance of commercial radio stations towards playing her music, despite her being an established performer. It was the most requested song to be played in 2002. Other great singles are Ain't No Little Girl, The Captain, Nothing at All; she has done other cover song like True Colors (Cyndi Lauper), Be Better Soon (Crowded House), Little Sparrow (Dolly Parton).

Kasey smashing on a banjo.. Brought up living in a bus, playing in her family band. Her bro is playing guitar and her Dad is playing slide guitar in this.. Grew up in some of the most Arid parts of South Australia, playing country gigs, and catching rabbits for dinner.. A 48 year old Mum with kids, with a 3 decade touring music career, that has lived every word.. Hi, liked and subscribed from Kasey's home State, South Australia! This is so different from any other Kasey performance! Kasey is an absolute legend of Australian country/folk music. Multiple award winner, youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient….she has been in the industry her whole life. First with the family band, then 25+ years in a solo career. Em’s record company gave Kasey permission to record and release this version but we still have had no comment from Em himself…so disappointed! 😞 This has to be Kasey’s best ever live performance…even though it was an encore to her concert! ❤

Original songs, by Kasey include Aint No Little girl & Not Pretty Enough which are getting plenty of reactions and for something different check out her cover of 7 Nation Army. She is a very talented singer songwriter having been performing for more then 20 years she started young with her family band The Dead Ringers.Her father Bill was the guy on the slde guitar in this video. Kasey has a huge catalogue of music and has released 12 studio albums 5 of which peaked on the ARIA charts at No.1 (Australian Record Industry) . She has also been inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame so although she may not be that well known in the US outside of the country music scene she is certainly well known here. Aussies and Kiwis get annoyed sometimes when they are lumped in with each other but nothing serious we are actually good mates there are a lot worse nationalities we could be confused with...

Kasey is Australian Australian country music royalty. She has spent a lot of time in Nashville and has toured America many times. Kasey does a cover of True Colours. The guy on the side guitar is her Dad. Songs to check out are The Captain Not Pretty Enough - this song was a dig at Main Stream Music Radio Stations that wouldn’t play her music.

The rights holder approved the song. That's not a 100% guarantee Em has heard it. Don't forget a few years ago Em sold the rights to his back catalogue.

Love the reaction, but I want to give some kind criticism. If you pause in the middle of a gorgeous and lengthy note, please consider rewinding so we all can hear it in its entirety. That first ‘…once in a lifetiiiiiiiiiime’ is so insane! Her performance here to me is legendary and I’ve watched it dozens of times. There’s not beef between Aus and NZ lol we’re all just tired af of the whole “they’re the same thing” mentality some people get into. Like think USA/Canada or UK/Ireland as similar examples. Glad you liked this. I think it's genius. Kasey had her start in country but her music is best described as roots music: what would be called Americana in the US. She does do covers but most of her music is self-written and fairly autobiographical. Not Pretty Enough actually charted in the US around 2001, 2002 which kind of makes her a contemporary of Eminem. She's definitely a fan. Someone else listed a string of other covers she's done in addition to her great catalogue of originals, but one they missed is Seven Nation Army. Probably not as good as the Lose Yourself cover but another time she's played slightly out of genre with her covers. I would second Ain't No Little Girl as a good starting point. And if you want a contrast, The Captain, written when she was much younger (was used in the Sopranos TV show a bit, I believe).

Spotify is being sued by 1000’s of artists for allowing things like this to happen when there’s copyright in place. Kasey has said she has no idea if he’s seen it or not. Unless somethings changed he doesn’t own the rights to his old stuff & hasn’t for a long time.

It doesn’t mean that at all. Eminem doesn’t even own the rights to this song, and even if he did, to release a cover you need to pay a fee, not ask permission.
