Kashmir is surrounded by Afghanistan, China, India and Pakistan, being independent at that critical point isn't possible. Kashmir can be autonomous state (Like Azad Kashmir of Pakistan), Majority of Kashmiris either want Independence or want to merge with Pakistan. India is taking some unnatural steps to get Kashmir by manipulating population of Kashmir (Importing Indians from different states to spoof referendum or to show world that majority of Kashmiris are with India). India should leave forceful invasion of Kashmir in order to restore peace in region. Mark my words, one day Kashmir will be either independent or will be part of Pakistan (if fair decision is made)
