Abdul Samad Ganaie from Kehousa village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district , is known in his village for making wonderful wearing Kashmiri traditional Grass Sandals also typically known as “Pulhoor”. The elderly man is committed to revive the age-old art of Kashmir-making sandals out of grass. Before 1960 due to poverty, grass-made slippers were only choice for many people in Kashmir, Even today many people who are facing heat sore feet issues, use this Pulhoor during holy journey for Hajj. Back in 2019 Ministry of Ayush conducted a research on native traditional handcrafted sandals, and Pulhoor was also taken into consideration, then there Dr. Akram Jamaal presented a brief 250 pages report on health benefits of Pulhoor.
